A psychologist, bluegrass bassplayer, photographer and astronomer, I live with my wife and daughter in north Georgia. Genealogy is a great way to waste hours and hours fabricating a sense of continuity and connection - and crossing paths with unknown cousins.
My ancestors: Chapman Wilson Johnson Moir May Gillespie Hartzell Staples Davidson Ellington Crockett Yaughey Martin DeJarnette
John Chapman Rees, I just found your pictures of the Chapman Cemetery and John Chapman's gravesite. If you go forward 4 generations and move to Texas there is another Chapman cemetery with direct male links to John. My great-grandmother was a Chapman and from her back are the male links in the family. So that probably makes us passing cousins somehow in the family. And you are right, geneology is a wonderful way to spend LOTS of time.
Chapman Cemetery Rees- I just stumbled upon your contributions from Chapman Cemetery. The last photos that I had from you were the original ones where the headstones had not been cleaned and appeared in decay. I was amazed at how they have been cleaned and restored. You have done a beautiful job!! I am so happy that something that had been lost for so long has been found and made available for the rest of us. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. One question, though. Is it Chapman Cemetery or Mount Prospect? And, who are the owners of the private property now?
