"We inherit from our ancestors gifts so often taken for granted... Each of us contains within us this inheritance of soul. We are links between the ages, containing past and present expectations, sacred memories and future promise."
- Edward Sellner -

Your tombstone stands among the rest;
Neglected and alone,
The name and date are chiseled out
In weathered red sandstone.
It reaches out to all who care
It is too late to mourn.
You did not know that I exist.
You died and I was born.
Yet each of us are cells of you
In flesh, in blood, in bone.
Our blood contracts and beats a pulse
Entirely not our own.
Dear Ancestor, the place you filled
Two hundred years ago
Spreads out among the ones you left
Who would have loved you so.
I wonder where you lived and loved,
I wonder if you knew
That someday I would find this spot,
And come to visit you.

- They shall grow not old,
as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them,
nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them. -

It would be nice if you could provide a burial site and grave number for your photo request. Call the cemetery and they will give it to you and it would be easier for the many volunteers out there to honor your request. Linda

Thanks for your message about Lewiston Cemetery. I really appreciate you offering to do this task for me given that your visit to the cemetery is for much more important and personal reasons.

Hi again, Saralee! I've claimed your photo request and saw your "note". I can't believe you were told they would have "no way of knowing" if there is a headstone. They do have a way of looking it up, but it is not in their computer system. They have to go back into the vault and look at the hard copy (old records). Maybe they just didn't have the time at that moment. Anyway, I will certainly check it out and hopefully you will get a photo of a headstone.

Take care,
Bonnie

I do not have a photo for this memorial. I got the information from records at the Genealogical Society of Pennsylvania. In 1931-1933 they did transcriptions of cemeteries in SE PA. Most churches will not find a gravestone for you and photograph it, worth a try though.

You can use the request a photo link on the memorial and a volunteer will take the photo and attach it to the memorial.

Duplicate Johanna King
Saralee,

No problem. I understand that memorials are sometimes unintentionally duplicated. I recommend that you copy your photo from the duplicate & add to the original....then delete your duplicate #100656864.

I have added your info & links to the original memorial for Johanna Dorenbos King, which is #71407981. Once the duplicate is deleted, just contact me if you would like a transfer of the original. I would be more than happy to pass your family into your care.

Best wishes,
Susan
