Photos of William Waide Cook, Jr.
Hi Linda;

I posted the photos for you to see. The photo of Waide, Jr. with his Dad is poor quality because it is a photo copy of a photo that was sent to me long ago. The photo of Waide, Jr. as a child was given to my Grandma in 1911. It was treasured and past on to me when my Mother passed away. If you have any photos or information, I would love to learn more about him or Thelma. I have in my notes that Waide served in a Railroad Battalion in Burma during World War II, but have not found any documentation to confirm that.

Best regards,

RE: William Waide Cook
Hi Linda;

Oops! I can't believe I sent you his Dad's number. William Waide Cook's Find-a-grave # is 144555363. I had to add him to find a grave today. I actually found his gravestone information on billions of You must be a descendent of Ethel's daughter, Josephine? It's so great to meet you! William Waide was my Mother's cousin. I don't have any photos of Ethel, but I do have a couple of William Waide. Do you know why Ethel died? She died so young. I felt sad when I learned that. I know why she is in Elko, Nevada. That is where William Waide's Mom and Dad were living. His Dad was a sheriff for Elko, Nevada. I will post the photos I have of William Waide Cook, Jr. on next week so you can see them.

Have a great weekend,

Ethel May Leishman
Hi Mindy;
Thank you so much for Find A Grave Memorial# 40390526. I have been researching my family and discovered that Ethel was married to my ancestor William Waide Cook, which is why her last name is Cook on the tombstone instead of Rhodes. She married him on 24 March 1928. They didn't have any children. She died really young. I was wondering if you would be so kind as to add a link to his find a grave memorial #90859326. I tried to add him as a spouse, but it wouldn't accept it.
Thanks so much,
Kathy David

Re: William Rhodes in Roselawn in Baton Rouge, LA
I did not see any other Rhodes anywhere in the immediate vicinity of William. The ground is still very wet and covered in mud, leaves, and a lot of acorns. I go out there almost, if not, every weekend. I will look further on my next trip.

pink in picture
So super sorry for the pink in the picture. My camera has been acting up. If you would like I can retake it when I get my camera fixed but am not sure how long that will be. Just let me know.

Kupfrain graves part II
The poor quality of the photos is due to the markers being painted over and over again, closing up the engravings.

Kupfrian photos
We drove down to Pensacola twice trying to get photos of the graves, and what we're posting is the best we could get. If you would like the full size files of the photos we took, contact us at You can read more of the epitaph on the full size files. Also, was curious if you knew anything about an area around Pensacola known as "Kupfrian Park". It seems to existed into the 1920s somewhere areound the Naval Air Station.
