My family noted for are Turner/Hose/Nesselrodt/Nazelrod/Ritchie/ my husbands side. Sterling/Purcell/Poulson. PAGES.=========================================== We Are The Chosen Author Unknown|
My feelings are in each family we are called to the ancestors.To put flesh on their bones and make them live again,
To tell the family story and to feel that somehow they know and approve.To me.doing genealogy is not a cold gathering of facts but,instead,breathing life into all who have gone before.
We are the storytellers of the tribe.
We have been called as it were by our genes.
Those who have gone before cry out to us; Tell our story,So,we do.
In finding them,we somehow find ourselves.
How many times have I told the ancestors you have wonderful family.you would be proud of us?
It goes beyond just documenting facts..
It goes to who I am and why I do the things I do?
The bones here are bones of my bones and flesh of my flesh.It goes to doing something about it.
It goes to pride in what are ancestors were able to accomplish.How they contributed to what we are today.
It goes to respecting their hardships and losses,their never giving in or giving up.
Their resoluteness to go on and build a life for their family.
It goes to deep pride that they fought to make and keep us a nation.
It goes to a deep and immense understanding that they were doing it for us.
That we might be born who we are.That we might remember them.
So we do.With love and caring and scribing each fact of their existence.
Because we are them and they are us.
So, as a scribe called,I TELL THE STORY OF MY FAMILY.
It is up to that one called in the next generation,
To answer the call and take their place in the long line of family storytellers.
That is why I do my family gealogy .
When I first started my family resource. it was with great honor and respect to remember those who were my dearly closet family members. honored person's to served my country to keep me free.friends and most of all that that gave me live my dear loving parents. Noah and Nellie Turner.In the close five years that I have been searching for my family. friends I also wanted to add those whom I did not know.to help others who's love ones they may not be able to locate.this time the search for my love ones over the past few years has become more difficult then I expected, all thou, I still hope and pray by the will of God that I will beable to add or help anyone whomay want resource on a friend or family member that I have all ready added.but please do not ask me to transfer any of my family or closes friend. and picture maybe copied, but not transferred, and hope that its not for a sale to someone eles. remember you copied it FREE.when I started this I was in company with a very dear niece. who so enjoyed this.and helped me to get started.today 2013 along this past years I have losted afew close other relatives., that were apart of my life. or just there to talk to.this year alone I losted a dear niece.two great nephews.a niece has lost her mother-in-law, another niece has losted her father-in-law. what may behold in store for the rest of the year only the Lord knows.i look say here as I have so many times before. my resource is not to be counted my names or pictures. but remembering, honoring. missing terribly.theses family names for me are Turner-Hose-Sterling.my Turner's and Hose's are from Hardy Co,Wv,and my Sterling family is from Crisfield MD of the Eastern Shore.
''THE CENSUS TAKER''
It was the first day of Census,and all through the land.The pollster was ready,a black book in hand.He mounted his horse for a long dusty ride;His books and some quills were close by his side;
Along winding ride down a road barey there;Toward the smell of fresh bread wofting up through the air.The woman was tired with lines on her face;and wispe of brown hair,She tucked into place.
She gave him some water,as they sat at the table.
He asked of her children.the best she was able.The oldest was twenty,the youngest not two.She held up a toddler with cheeks round and red;his sister she whipsered was napping in bed.
She noted each person who lived there with pride.and she felt the faint stirrings of the wee one inside.He noted the sex,the color,the age. The marks from the quill soon filled up the page.At the number of children.She nodded her head.and he saw her lips quiver for the three that were dead.The places of birth she never forgot,Was it Kansas?or Utah? or Orgean? or not?They came from Lithuania of that she was clear.But she wasn't quite sure,Just how long they been here. They spoke of employment of schooling and such.They could read some. and write some.though really not much;
When the questions were answered his job was done.So he mounted his horse.and rode toward the sun.We can almost imagine, his voice loud and clear May God Bless you all for another ten years.

Sorry, I meant to say that James II married (Christina Frankforter) at Manchester, MD.
|Landon Tanner||John Tanner|
Well Barbara...I suspected that your James I (James Michael) had a brother John because on the 1784 Tax List of Rockingham Co., VA, along with Michael Tanner, is a John Tanner and a John Turner. One of these is probably the John you're referring to. Also on this list are Caplinger Countryman and Zetty. Your James I married in Manchester, Baltimore Co., MD which is why I believe he was a son of Christian Danner/Tanner/Turner. I suspect that the lawyer John Turner could be John William Tanner. The 1776 Tax List for Pipe Creek Hundred, Baltimore Co., MD shows James M Dunah which is probably your James I...and it also shows William Denny who could be John William Turner. Sadly, only a couple pages of this list exist. On a 1768 Petition to move the Baltimore county seat from Joppa to Baltinore, your James I appears as Michael Danner. He probably arrived from Germany with Christian Danner on the ship "Phoenix" in 1752. He was probably the Michael Tanner who was naturalized 12 Sep 1764 in Frederick Co., MD. The Frankforter family lived near Christian Tanner in Pipe Creek Hundred, Baltimore Co., MD. Much of this is just "theory" but I'm pretty sure it's correct. I have a lot of German Church Record research to do yet. There's no end to it!!!
|Landon Tanner||George Tanner|
Sorry Barbara, but I don't know if my George was a lawyer, but yes he was spelled as Tanner, as well as Turner, Tenner, Tinner, Tomer, Toner & Danner. My George is George Tanner in 1790 Baltimore Co., MD and your James I is Michael Tanner in 1784 Rockingham Co., VA. This name varies a lot more than most people realize. Another brother is John Turner in 1790 Baltimore Co., MD. Another brother is Christian Jr. Domar/Tomer of Washington Co., MD. Some of his family were spelled Deaner and Tener. I saw some of yours in Rockingham as Tumar/Tumer/Tumor. Judging by the size of this family in the census records, there could be MANY unknown graves in Turner Family Cemetery! Landon Tanner
|Landon Tanner||Zetty, wife of James I Turner|
I saw one Ancestry Family Tree that says her name was "Maria Zetty". I don't know where they got this from but it could be correct because there is Jacob & Peter Zetty listed near James I (Michael Tanner) on the 1784 Tax List for Rockingham Co., VA. James I Turner (James Michael Tanner) was probably a brother to my George Tanner of Baltimore Co., MD. Landon Tanner
|Sandra Baker-Estep||RE: John Baker & James Turner I|
James Turner I was my 5th great grandfather.
|Sandra Baker-Estep||Turner relatives|
I can probably help you fill in a lot on the Turners. Contact me by e-mail.
|Sandra Baker-Estep||Hessian John Baker|
Hessian John was my 4th Great Grandfather. I noticed you had that he was born in Genoa, Rockingham County, VA. I had always heard that he was born in Hesse, (hence the name Hessian) and came to the U.S. after fighting for the British against the Americans. I have tried to find out more about him, like who his parents were and where they lived. My family is from the Genoa (now Fulk's Run) area.
How are you related?
|Diane Pedersen||Hayes Family|
I am very distantly related to this family. My relationship to to Cecil Lefond Gross is granddaughter of husband of 2nd cousin 3x removed. So you can see we are not closely related. Our common ancestor is Jacob Kerns and Rachel Cowgill. I'm trying to add the descendants for this couple to my family tree.
|Diane Pedersen||Frances (Hayes) Miller|
Thank you so much for adding her photo to Find A Grave. Would you happen to have a photo of her headstone also? If not, I'll request it again. I really appreciate all the photos and information you have provided. It has helped me a lot in adding to my family tree.
|Gathering Roots||Edna Weatherholtz|
Definently A Typo on her Funeral Card.Thanks so much for sharing the information
