I'm a Kansas City, KS, native that started doing genealogy research at the National Archives in the 80s. What a delight when the internet opened up and blew everything open!|
Some of the families I research include: Brock, Wallace, Mansell, Black, Shafer, Kerns, Meyer, House, Taylor, Shultz & Frauenhoff.
If I have a memorial that belongs to your family I'll be happy to place them with you. Due to health reasons I'm not able to fill many photo requests but when I visit a cemetery I always check to see if there are any plots that need added.
Any pics I've posted are in the "family domain". If you are related to that person, I authorize your usage of the pics taken by me on that family member's memorial.
I appreciate everyone's help in correcting or adding to the memorials I hold and am grateful to those who were kind enough to fulfill photo and/or transfer requests for me.
Happy tree climbing ya'll - and God bless.
Your tombstone stands among the rest;
Neglected and alone
The name and date are chiseled out
On polished, marbled stone.
It reaches out to all who care
It is too late to mourn.
You did not know that I exist
You died and I was born.
Yet each of us are cells of you
In flesh, in blood, in bone.
Our blood contracts and beats a pulse
Entirely not our own.
Dear Ancestor, the place you filled
So many years ago
Spreads out among the ones you left
Who would have loved you so.
I wonder if you lived and loved,
I wonder if you knew
That someday I would find this spot,
And come to visit you.

Thank you for posting the photo for Mary Catherine (Paden) Black. Are you a descendant?
I descend from Eliza Jane (Black) Jones, a younger sister of George Washington Black, the husband of Mary Catherine Paden. I've done extensive research on the descendants of Samuel and Rebecca (Skinner) Black and would be willing to share my info. I have info on all the children except Rhoda (Black) Ryder. I have info on her children, etc. but can't find the date of death or place of burial for her. I believe she died sometime between Apr 1920 and Jul 1912. Looking forward to hearing from you. |Hemi||RE: 80384017 Samuel Black|
Hi, thank you for responding. My gr grandfather Charles Edwin Black's (b 1867 Ohio) father was William Henry Black, mother Eleanor Ann Wissinger. William Henry Black's father was Samuel. I know for fact William Henry Black was born in Kentucky in 1834....then "I think" Samuel was born in TN or possibly MA.? That's where I'm stuck. I see from Ancestry.com that other people have that same path but I've never felt right about it. Any insights? Nancy (aka Hemi)

Do you have any information that William Henry Black b 1834 – f 1906 is a son to Samuel Black. Thank you. Nancy

We might be able to locate it's general location by useing the historic plat maps of johnson county that are online and then comparing that to present day maps. Send me a picture of it and I'll see what I can do. My email is firstname.lastname@example.org
Please call the cemetery for a grave location.
I will be going there again soon.

|Sam English||No Marker for Baty|
No marker was to be found for Elmer Baty in the Paint Rock Cemetery. Small cemetery and wife and I easily cover every tombstone; there were none for Baty. There was a gentleman there who has been doing some family history research and visiting a lot of cemeteries and he said he had seen some Batys buried in the Culpepper cemetery in Emminence (also Shannon County). I checked it and none are listed but doesn't mean there aren't any because he said he has seen them. Sam

Katt....are you sure there is a grave marker of your Baty ancestor in the Paint Rock cemetery? It appears that Cathy Hill took several pictures of other tombstones in the cemetery. I would just assume that she would have taken one of the Baty tombstone if it was there. Have you seen it yourself and know it to be there? Let me know please. Either way I'll probably go out there on Sunday. Thanks.
