First, let me say thank you to all of those who share my desire to connect with the past. With out you it would be next to impossible.
I have been researching my family since 1999. I use the word research but its more of a gathering of information that others have posted on the web, hence my heart felt thanks above. I started out on this journey due to religious beliefs that I once held. Even though I am no longer religious, I still have the strong desire to connect and be aware of the ones who have come before me, awareness of my direct relatives and also the human race itself. I have become a lover of history. :)
A Side Note: I have all of my family members that I have found on Find A Grave listed under their surnames in the Virtual Cemetery section of my profile. There are two categories: Affinitive and Consanguineous Links. Affinitive links are members that are connected to me through a marriage, and consanguineous are blood relatives of mine or my husband.

I'm wondering if you are a Helton by birth or marriage? I am a Helton by marriage and would like to see if we are related. My Helton's are from that area of Kentucky.

looking at my records i am a distant relative of most of the older family's n this area.My Hornbeck family came thru Randolph county and they married into the Pringle family . I use Family tree maker to try and keep track of who is who and it gives me my connection to other families.I started trying to trace my family about 1980 and have worked on it since then. I can get most of my direct relatives but hit a brick wall on Samuel S Lane my great great grandfather. About 2000 I started photographing Cemeteries trying to preserve some record of who is buried where in Upshur and surrounding counties and have thousands of digital pictures some only identifiable by a number and where they were taken.i work in the winter time trying to process them by name and cemetery plus any readable data i can find on the stones or written records. I make mistakes and leave out facts about the people and spend a great deal of time trying to correct the information as false information is useless. Sorry I got carried away but I do this for a hobby as well as trying to keep my mind sharp. feel free to contact me with information you might have that i need to add and I will transfer owner ship to any of your direct family members to you upon request
