I live in Missouri, a descendant of the Townsend, Morris, Jones, Wells, Bassett, Thurman, and Wood families. I am also researching my Wife's ancestors, the Newhard, Saeger, Beil, Moyer, Likens, King, and Ashton families. |

|Nesa Smith Clark||RE: Col. Humphrey Jones|
I recently came across a couple of pictures of Rev Fee and his wife. I too come from Robert and Polly Clemons. John "Jack" the older brother of Fee was my gg grandfather. The resemblance of Jack's son Thomas, my g grandfather to Fee was uncanny.
Do you have any pictures of the Jones that you would share? My g grandfather died in 1942 and I never knew him. My grandmother Fannie, only had one picture of her father.
I have read all I have been able to find online about Robert Jones and Rev Fee. What a story! I'm trying to compile as much information as I can for my elderly aunts and uncles who know nothing about their ancestors. My grandmother still has a sister 89 who is still living and sorely regrets not asking her mother, Louisa about the Jones family.
Thank you for your great contribution to our family history. I'm not sure why "Old Joseph" is so upset about the issue with the Col and where he is buried but I appreciate his efforts to be correct.
|Nesa Smith Clark||Col Humphrey Jones|
There would seem to be a question as to the burial location of my ggg grandfather, Col Humphrey Jones.
I have him and his wife Susannah both in the Richmond Cemetery, their son, Maj Humphrey Jones buried at the Versailles Cemetery in Woodford co KY and Humphrey T buried at Hickory Flat Cemetery Overpeck Butler co OH.
Joseph notified me that Richmond Cemetery didn't have them listed.
Thank you for the information about the ownership of the land. I believe I had read that before. I know he was instrumental in building the Christian Church in Richmond as well and I believe he also gave money for a library.
I come from his son Robert. He moved to Jackson Co KY later in life.
Are you related to the Col?
Thank you for all of your hard work. I am truly grateful for all that you have done on this site,
|Old Joseph||Col Humphrey Jones (#46708372) & Susannah Sukey Gentry Jones (#46708424)|
Please know that the Richmond Cemetery (Richmond, Kentucky) Inventory of Burials does not have any listings for a Col Humphrey Jones (1770-1853) and his wife Susannah Sukey Gentry Jone (1776-1841).
There are two Humphrey Jones' buried in the Richmond Cemetery but neither one has the same DOB and DOD as Col Humphrey Jones.
Please check and correct your memorials as required.

I just posetd a grave photo you requested, for Egbert Townsend #36887657. I found mention of his death in a 1906 newspaper, and can email you a clipping if you'd like.

I am a cousin of Katie Farmer McGregor, and her daughter Helen Marie McGregor Armstrong. But sorry, I don't have anymore information on Helen.
I have included your anecdote in her personal notes, though.

"M" Townsend, who died in 1848, and was buried at the Friends (Quaker) Cemetery in North Lewisburg, Champaign County Ohio, has been identified as Mary Watson Townsend:
Nell was a single stone in a row containing several Coopers and couples named Speers, Hoag, and George. I have walked the entire cemetery over the summer (today was the last visit) and haven't found a James. I'm still transcribing the photos I've taken so he may show up, but he is not listed in an old transcription done by the local cemetery society. All of the other Townsends in this cemetery are in adjoining plots--Nell is the only one not in that group. I don't know what records exist, if any, beyond the transcription done by the cemetery society.

Quintin's Father, George, and my Grandfather, Frank Wilder, were first cousins. I had not caught this before so found it very interesting! Take at look at George Wilder on the 1920 census and then at the Townsends. Both live at 1222 South 14th. Makes me wonder how the census taker contacted and then recorded who all lived at this home. I visited many times growing up with Lelia (we called her Mother Wilder) his Mother and sisters Ruby and Violet. Wish I knew this then and I could have asked! Becky

Thanks Jason. Somehow I missed that. I have been trying to get folks to link families together and I guess I got carried away. LOL
