DANIEL AVINGER
SACRED TO THE MEMORY OF
DANIEL DANTZLER

WHO DEPARTED THIS LIFE AUGUST 24, 1863
AGE 66 YEARS 5 MONTHS 4 DAYS

For the last 32 years he was a member of the M. E. Church, and most of that time he served as a Class-Leader.
He was a true Christian, Patriot and Philanthropist.
Universal testimony as well as his bright life and example sustained us in saying, that his place cannot be supplied.
As a citizen he was prompt in his efforts to promote the welfare of the community, As a Christian he was a bright and shining light. In the relations of husband and parent, as well as master he was firm, affectionate and devoted.
His children and a large circle of relatives and friends mourn his death.

(There are a few more lines I can't read, below that is where the stone is cracked)

I will go back, they were spreading chicken manure fertilizer in the fields and it got hard to breathe.
