Bio and Links
Bio Photo I am the great great grandson of Meedy White Shields, the founder of Seymour, IN. The families I am trying to track down are Shields, Liston, Geary and Anderson. At one time or another all sides of my family were thrown out of Ireland. I hope to go there one day and kiss the "blarney stone" to make my life complete.

I retired in 2005 after working with computers for 45 years. I was a computer geek before anyone knew what the word ment!

I live on the north east side of Cincinnati, OH just south of Kings Island. I am in the process of cataloging all the graves in Section D of the Riverside Cemetery in Seymour, IN. I have been told that I am probably related in one way or another to most of the people in that Section. I plan to find out!

The Liston and Geary families are from Danville, KY. The Anderson family is from Sardinia, OH. If you can help me identify anyone in my family, please send me an e-mail. If I can help you with a picture or anything else, also send me an e-mail.

Please e-mail me with any errors or omitions you spot. I want to make sure my entries are correct. (Geeks are sticklers for correct details.)

Many thanks to all that help!

RE: John A Shields
John A. Shields was my grandfather and I understood his given middle name was Arthen, although I don't have any official papers (birth or marriage certificates, etc.) of which I know giving that name. I also have a few of his family history books. His youngest son apparently did not know the actual name was Arthen or thought Arthur sounded better, so my cousin is indeed John Arthur Shields--but I've heard him say he thought he was named erroneously.

Martin Shields - McDonough Co., IL
Hi Curg:

I am working on the descendants of Martin Shields, who was the son of Nathan V. Shields and Mary Kingery. I can furnish a descendants genealogy report of a little over 11 pages, if you are interested. Maybe you can fill in some of the holes in my report.

I am working an article for our local genealogy newsletter on Martin Shields and Mary Van Meter. Mary Van Meter is a "2nd Cousin 3 times removed" to my wife. Anyway I hope to hear from you.

RE: Everhart 3 memorials
You're right and thanks for the suggestion. I just updated my profile.

I've worked on my family tree in spurts over the past couple of years. This summer I'm focusing on my Dad's side of the family, which includes Everhart, Pfaffenberger, Myers and Gudgel. These folks were heavily German and generally from Indiana, many names (like Everhart and Pfaffenberger) seem to be focused in the Seymour area.

My grandfather, Orville Walter Everhart, Sr., moved to Springfield, Ohio and then Xenia, Ohio, where I was born and raised.

Because we were distanced from the Indiana family, I don't know much about them, but your Findagrave records have been most helpful.

I have numerous old black/white photos of gravestones left behind by my father, but no description on the back of them noting cemetery information. I hope to visit cemeteries in the Seymour area this fall.

We've crossed paths a time or 2 in the past - and I appreciate the work you've done. Thank you very much.
