I have extensively researched my family for the past ten years and have found find a grave a great tool in both locating and preserving memories of family members. If I find a name connected to my family I also have researched that family name to learn as much about the connection as possible. I was born and have lived in Texas most all of my life...I am a direct descendant of a San Jacintio vetern, as well a descendant of a Texas Ranger Frontiersman. My family can be traced from Ireland, England, Virginia, South and North Carolina, Tennessee, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi and Texas. Joyce Kidwell

RE: Oliver H. Phillips
I know that there are DeRossett's buried at Oakwood. I just don't know about that early. I can check for you.

John Phillips
Seaborn Moses Phillips
I am his direct descendant. He's the son of Judge James Phillips, Jr. whose grave is nearby. In 2007 we discovered the grave of his wife Sarah Collins Phillips next to that of James (it was covered with grass until 2007).

I have written extensively about this family beginning with the judge's father, James Phillips Sr., listing his children which include Sarah Lee ("Sallie"), who was born in about 1812 and who on February 15, 1831 married Daniel Boone Seale in Hinds County. Sallie is Judge James Phillips, Jr.'s sister, e.g., Seaborn's aunt.

Seaborn wished to be buried next to his brother William who died in the war with Mexico. Presumably William is buried in an unmarked grave next to Seaborn although probing of the ground revealed nothing.

Accurate information about siblings and a very good bio about Seaborn Moses Phillips can be found in my book "The Good Intent: The Story and Heritage of a Fresno Family" which can be found in select libraries and online book stores.

Seaborn Moses Phillips
Thank you for the wonderfully written bio for Seaborn Phillips. I've added it to his memorial.

RE: Sarah Sallie Phillips Seale
I found some similar memorials that might be Sarah's parents but the dates are askew.

Please look at #42271262 and 42271336.

If you think these are sallies parents let me know and I will link them to her memorial.

RE: Rice entry
The book published in 1994 has names of graves, and in some instances it will have husbands name and the next name will be wife's name and beside the listing will be w/o and husbands name. Every name he entered of those he put WITHOUT and husbands name, and he has a lot entered that way.

Rice entry
I might make one suggestion, don't have to if you don't want but when I make a duplicate entry I usually state that it is a duplicate entry and put why (I could not get the one, and I usually put name, who made the entry to transfere).
Just a thought, doesn't matter.
