I am emailing you the article. It was from the Goshen, Indiana Daily News, 20 May 1888. I found a number of similar ones. I will go back and see if I can find anything additional.

|B.J. Waters||As I suspected . . .|
. . . the Betty Young buried in Fairhaven plot is not the wife of James Young. Betty G. Young is buried in the same grave as James. I have created a memorial for her and will link her to James.
In a smaller cemetery, I may have simply made the link that you requested, without questioning. But this is one of the largest cemeteries in L.A. County, with over 300,000 burials and is over 350 acres. So I knew there was a chance that there might be another Betty Young, buried with or next to James.
Good luck in finding more relatives on this site. It is growing more rapidly now than ever.

I'm so glad to be of help Rene!

Hello! I see that you have requested that they be linked as spouses. Are you sure? They are buried in different areas of the cemetery and although that is not unheard of, it is a little unusual. The only reason I am asking is because these are very common names.
|Zella||RE: Hiram etc.|
I just got a message from the fellow that has Mercy's memorial and he too says there was a divorce. I suggested he put that in the memorial for her, and you may want to add the same info to Elijah's memorial; otherwise it looks odd.
No problems with any of the dates that I can see, now that the two wives thing is cleared up. :)

I sent you the obit tonight for Hiram, and I linked Flora and Lucy to him. I also sent Mr. Ed the links for son Charles. You still need to link daughter Mary to him.
Now, I was looking at the memorial for Elijah Hanchett, and I see he is linked to two wives. But he couldn't have been married to both of them, as the dates are clashing. He would have had to have been a bigamist. :O
I tried to see if there was more than one Dr. Elijah Hanchett, but could only find one. He is on the 1840 census in Tallmadge and the 1820 census in New York. I could not locate him in 1830. The grave of that Mercy Hanchett in NY does say 'relict of Dr. Elijah' so maybe he WAS a bigamist...
Back to Hiram - Hiram's obit says he went back to the west coast 'for his health', but the actual reason was a bit more...um...disturbing. He was actually fleeing from a grand jury indictment in Ohio. The details are pretty sordid, and it's not something you want to put on a memorial, but if you want to know, I will get the articles for you.
Oh, do you need Elizabeth's obit, or do you already have it?

I heard back from the fellow I emailed and he sent me a crude map - Hiram is indeed in Ashland Cemetery in Ashland, Jackson Co., Oregon. He is in section five, but he did not give me a row number, and they were not numbered on the map.
Cemetery is on the site here:
Go ahead and get him moved over and I will link his wife and daughters to him.
I am sorry that I did not get the obit to you yet - the last couple of weekends were hectic. I will try and type it out tonight and put it in a SAC for you.

|Zella||RE: By the way....|
As you may know, the site was down for three days but is up again, so I will transcribe the obit for you this weekend and send it via SAC on Hiram's memorial. I see you found the edit tab and got the death info listed for Hiram.
Have you phoned Glendale cemetery to see if he is buried there? Even though he died in Oregon, he may have been shipped back. Or maybe not - he was living with a sister in Oregon, but she did not remain there - I found her dying somewhere back east later - you may even have her linked - I will have to recheck.
There are only three cemeteries in Ashland, Oregon, and one was not begun until 1904, so that narrows down the possibilities to two. One was Ashland Cemetery; the other was Hargadine Cemetery. I sent an email to the county office that manages both cemeteries to see if they have any records. Both cemeteries have transcriptions online and he is not listed in either; however, those are for tombstone transcriptions only; ie: marked burials that were legible at the time. He could be there and unmarked, or illegible.
If nothing comes of that you could see if a death certificate exists and send for one.

|mgk||RE: Samuel Reeves|
Samuel's wife's (Mary) memorial is on a different side of Samuel Reeves' stone, but I couldn't get a photo with a readable text. I can post what I have, if you'd like. I can make out Mary, --- (wife of?) S Reeves, and a little further down I see "Apr" (assumed death month).
