One of my fondest childhood memories is helping my great-grandmother look through her big brown box of family photos and arranging them in a large scrapbook. I was fascinated by all of the photos, names, and familial connections she described and admired the fond way she talked about the people who had been a part of her life. Nearly 20 years later, I began dabbling with genealogy in an attempt to learn more about my family's history and get a better understanding of our sociological background and makeup. And really, I just like the never ending, personal puzzle it presents. Those AHA! moments and connections with other people you find online are one of a kind. |
Some family surnames include: Judd, Adams, Pepper, Larson, Hofsaess, Crumb, Norcross, Lohmuller, Mather, Parsons, Griffin, Henderson, Sorenso/en, Woods, Wood, Rodine
"In different hours, a man represents each of several of his ancestors, as if there were seven or eight of us rolled up in each man's skin,—seven or eight ancestors at least, and they constitute the variety of notes for that new piece of music which his life is."
Ralph Waldo Emerson

I had a little clarification for you. The gravestone of Patrick Griffin [Jr] and his wife, Mary (nee) Minton include "Julia Griffin." This is the unmarried sister of Patrick and not his mother, Julia (nee Murphy) Griffin. Julia Murphy married Patrick [Sr] in Canada (I believe).
I know identification becomes all the more difficult when parents name their children after themselves!

I was going through a desk and found an old St. Joseph News Press paper that had an obituary of a family member. I thought I would just add the other people listed in the Obituaries if the obituaries weren't already on their find-a-grave sites. Pearl Garst was one of those.

What better way to spend a few warm, sunny, quite hours? Center Cemetery is a lovely place in a beautiful country setting. Glad we could help.

I will transfer the requested memorial pages over to you...
I did notice you had this one posted:
Mary Minton Griffin (1852 - 1989)*
Unless this person was 137 years old at the time of her death... the birth/death years are incorrect. LOL
|Teresa (Hamilton/Pepper) Rust||Pepper and Hamilton Connection|
I am a Pepper by birth. My great-great grandfather was John Prouty Pepper and was the brother of Thomas Dearth Pepper. Are you aware of the Pepper DNA study in which my Grandfather Pepper participated? The end result is that we are actually biologically Hamiltons and not Peppers. :) Around 200 years ago a Pepper family gave their name to a Hamilton son. We do not know all of the details yet,but we have learned a lot about our Hamilton heritage which is Scottish. You can read more about it at my personal blog/website: www.gransfamilyhistory.com and also at www.johnhamiltonofscotland.wordpress.com and also www.scottishprisonersofwar.com

You're very welcome. It took some searching and an office visit but I finally found it. I posted the full plot location on the photo comments.
