I am not sure which is correct. I have seen errors with SSDI as well as the Herald Snooze so I guess I'd say, "Flip a coin". Sorry.

I came across this obituary for Charles Carter. He is not my family, but would you post this in his bio section please. (I hate to waste a good obit!). I think you can do a copy/paste from this message.
Ottawa Free Trader August 16, 1901
Charles Carter Died at his home two and a half miles southwest of Grand Ridge at 11 o'clock Friday night, in the Sixty-fourth year of his age. The funeral, will take place from the home at 1 o'clock today. The body will then be taken to South Ottawa cemetery for burial. Deceased was born Dec. 23, 1837 and came west with his parents when only about eight years old. He leaves a wife and three sons and three daughters surviving him.
