|"At a cemetery, lives are commemorated, deaths are recorded, families are reunited, memories are made tangible and love is undisguised. Communities accord respect, families bestow reverence, historians seek information and our heritage is thereby enriched.|
Testimonies of devotion, pride and remembrance are carved in stone to pay warm tribute to accomplishments and to the life - not death - of a loved one. The cemetery is homeland for family memorials that are a sustaining source of comfort to the living. A cemetery is a history of people; a perpetual record of yesterday and a sanctuary of peace and quiet today.
A cemetery exists because every life is worth remembering - always." ~unknown author~

Yes, they are one in the same. Now called the Emery Cemetery derived from the name of the subsequent owner, the "Old Day Cemetery" is located on the homestead farm of Edward Poe Day. The cemetery is maintained by the Lawrence Township Trustee, but the land surrounding it is private property of a Christian Retreat. I assume you know that the cemetery has recently undergone a wonderful renovation.
Hi EV, My husbands gg grandfather was William L Mansfield # 44103144. I have the # to connect his parents to him if you could update the information
Father # 15306734 and mother # 15306781
I believe William wife must be buried in the same cemetery but I have no proof of this at this time. I am not sure if you live close to Marietta Cemetery but his wife was Louisa E Clifton Mansfield. Thank you for taking a picture of Williams grave. I live in CA and would not be heading to GA any time soon. Malinda

|Ed Springer||R.Walter Shugart|
Dear EV Browne,
I stumbled across this site while beginning ancestry research. Mr. Shugart was my paternal great grandfather. The gravestone reads "R.W.Shugart" and you have the memorial listed as R. Walter Shugart. Are you a relative? Can you share how you came about the information that his middle name is "Walter?" My grandmother's (his daughter Laura Shugart Springer) family Bible has his middle name listed as "Walton."
Thanks for your help

Dear E V Browne,
Thank you for establishing a memorial for (Find A Grave Memorial# 48249510) Catherine Ashton MELL SHUGART. When it is convenient to do so, please add this material to her memorial:
Catherine Ashton MELL SHUGART, "Kate," was the daughter of Edward Sumner MELL of Liberty County & Laura Matilda BARTHELMESS of Savannah. She was the niece of well-known educator and Baptist minister, the Rev. Patrick Hues MELL. Kate's father's cousin, William Benjamin MELL Sr. (Find A Grave Memorial# 42082142), was married to Kate's mother's sister, Sarah Louise BARTHELMESS (Find A Grave Memorial# 42078995), and that latter family remained in Savannah (Chatham County). Kate was a namesake of her grandmother, Catherine Elizabeth ASHTON BARTHELMESS of Savannah. Kate's parents settled in Marietta, Cobb County, and were the parents of James Edward MELL, Sarah Elizabeth MELL LEMOYNE, Catharine Ashton MELL SHUGART, Sumner MELL, Charles Newton MELL, John Barthelmess MELL, Benjamin MELL (Find A Grave Memorial# 18026409) and Laura Emma MELL FOOTE.
I am NOT seeking transfer of any memorials, but simply wish to provide some information about Kate's MELL family.
May God Bless You and Your Family,
