Bio Photo Retired grandfather of 7; researching my paternal line since 1997-- Cockrell/Bosier families originally in South Carolina beginning early 1800's.

Bosier family is special interest because it seems to appear then disappears.

My Mother's line is the Nickolas Watson/Daisy Risinger family originally from Ward area of Saluda County SC.

Was born and raised in Saluda, but moved away after graduating high school June 1959. Lived in Atlanta GA until December 1979 when I returned to Saluda.

Obituary for John E. Cockrell
Hi Lane,
Below is a copy of the obituary for Sgt. John E. Cockrell (memorial # 29783171). I'm forwarding this to you in case you would like to add it to his memorial.

Saluda, SC - Sgt. John E. Cockrell, 26, of the Sardis section of Saluda county died in Korea September 23, 1950.
He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Audette Black Cockrell; one daughter, Johnette of Saluda county; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jake Cockrell of Saluda county; four brothers, Marvin Cockrell of Augusta, Ga., and Hoyt, Virgil and Alton of Saluda county; four sisters, Mrs. W. A. Powell of Augusta, Ga., Mrs. Frances Storey of Ridge Spring and Mrs. DeWitt Wilson and Mrs. Ruby Caughman of Saluda.
Funeral services will be conducted from Sardis Baptist church at 4 o'clock Wednesday afternoon by a chaplain from Fort Jackson, assisted by the Rev. H. B. White. The body will remain at Rameys funeral home until time for services. Full military services will be held. Interment will be in the Furman Matthews cemetery. The body will arrive Tuesday morning.
