When I go to a cemetery to photograph a grave for someone, I usually photograph the section to make my time out there more valuable to another researcher who may later look for a loved one that may be in the same area that is not yet on the website. I am not related to most of those contributions I have made. If you request corrections or relationship connections, chances are I will transfer the memorial to you so you can make those changes. I have no problem doing so, especially if you are related. I do not have a hang up to transfer a memorial I created if you want it. Those memorial hoarding Nazi's on findagrave annoy the crap out of me. You want it, its yours. I have a ton of photos I have yet to upload onto the website. If you come across one of my contributions and there is not a photo,just ask for it. I have the photo but it takes so long to upload, I do it in my spare time.
One last thing....if you find a duplicate that I created because I have a photo to add, dont assume I am going to delete mine, especially if my memorial has more info.I put a lot of time in taking the picture, uploading the photos and gathering info. I dont excitedly look at the obituaries everyday trying to beat someone to the chase to create a memorial and in turn increase my memorial numbers. If you find a duplicate and I have less info, I have no problems deleting it, but the assumption that I am going to follow suit is annoying as hell to me. I always look up the last name in the cemetery on this website before posting. If for some reason a duplicate is created, well I am sorry for offending you. I am sure there are rules that I am breaking by doing this, but if you have nothing better to do than troll around finding duplicates, then find some joy and turn me into the findagrave powers that be.I am sure you have their rules memorized and by golly you are going to enforce them to give your life some meaning.
The only time I will not transfer a memorial is if I go to your page and find that you qualify for a findagrave Nazi award, (see above). I would rather hand over my work to someone with a communal spirit that understands a relative is your relative whether its within 2 generations or 12. I will not turn over my work to one of the many findagrave villains, so dont ask.
