Bio and Links
Bio Photo Born in Japan, thanks to the US military. Live in Charleston, SC. Went to college in Charleston and never wanted to leave. My father was from Ohio, mother from Michigan. Ancestry is primarily English/Irish/Scots/German/Bohemian. Because of some unique circumstances there is not much available about my family beyond a few generations.

My wife's family, however, is from Lee County, South Carolina, and her lineage has been easy to trace.

RE: Mary Grantham
David, Thank you very much for adding these memorials for Mary and Shadrach Grantham and all the work you do within the Find a Grave community. The links look good and thank you. Since you added the link that completes all of the deceased children of my Aunt Maybelle Watkins Turner. I put in a photo request for Mary and Shadrach. Mary and her twin sister Martha were people that if you ever met you never forgot. Have a blessed day and keep up the good work .

God bless,
Johnny

Simpson Mixon
David, His Daughter N. Elizabeth married a Beasley (as did Catherine), and their daughter Sarah Frances married a Reuss from Southern Illinois and they are my Great grandparents. Please send me an e-mail so I can see which branch your wife (my cousin) is descended from. I did contact Sondra and she has given me permission to copy the photo. Thanks.

Simpson Mixon
Hi, Simpson Mixon is my 4th great grandfather. I would like to know if you would allow me to have a copy of his headstone picture so I can put it on my tree on Ancestry.com. I have the inscription, which I got from the Lee County, SC Cemetery survey, and you might want to add it to the info portion of his memorial page on Find A Grave. Thanks, Karen

In Memory of:
SIMPSON MIXON
Born November 11, 1802 Died September 10, 1837
With Full assurance of a blessed immortality beyond the grave.
Go forth fast soldier to thy rest A place prepared in Jesus' breast For since thy us mourn as laid down Thy head shall wear a heavenly crown.

His is the oldest burial in the cemetery, and it is located among a group of wooden headstones. LEE COUNTY, SOUTH CAROLINA CEMETERIES SURVEY, p. 269.

george lafayette josey
George Lafayette Josey, CSA, 23rd SC is buried in Arkansas, not SC. there is a marker for him at Bethany Baptist Church Cemetery, Bishopville area, SC, but he died in Arkansas and that is where his final resting place is. please correct your website that indicates he is buried in SC. Thanks

Piedmont Cemetery
Hi Dave
Thanks for the corrections.

I am not related, just like going thru cemeteries. My wife and I had stopped in Bishopville to see the Pryor Topiary gardens and was the Piedmont cemetery was nearby, and I could not resist taking a quick look.

It will take me a few days to go thru the pictures I took at Piedmont, and put them into findagrave as I am still in the B's.
