Bio Photo Hi! Welcome to my little part of the world at Life in the Past Lane. http://KyUSA.addr.com [Online 10 years but offline for now]
Honoring the past generations, helping families to find their ancestors and finding out how many of us all have a connection and many more cuzins than we ever dreamed. Finding our ancestors and walking through the lands of times past.

I only work on genealogy on days ending in "Y" ©

I have added the website GUESTBOOK for also leaving messages and it has the archive from 2005 from family searchers from the website. When signing there - leave your email addy to be contacted or I wont be able to reach you.

For the cuzins I have met previously "Hi" and for the new cuzins I hope to meet "HI" to you to.
We have many many paths to walk that our ancestors walked, and our time here is in honor to them.

I leave "Daisys" on all family members that are in my data and lines [direct and extended].
I leave other flowers for memorials I have help link up and/or helped someone else with.
Other flowers also can mean I havent located or logged them in my data . We all have ALOT of branches and trees to climb and explore.

I do enter cemeteries when possible. It is to help others find their family members as well as it probably has an ancestor or two of mine.
I am not about numbers , I am about family and heritage and our ancestors. If I have a memorial that is part of your family line, I dont mind transfering [as long as it isnt part of my direct]. If I have made an error, just let me know and if I have dupped in error. Just let me know where and who. We have many generations , with so many simular names - errors are possible . But puzzles are so much fun finding validation of one piece at a time, till the picture among the pieces start to take form.

I do choose to post death certificates. DC's help with family medical history documenting. We all need to know what our family medical history was/is also.

Dates on papers, bibles, headstones, & certificates may vary. We are working through our families pasts and lives and getting the dates may sometimes be the best drawn conclusion that is to be drawn.

My direct lines I am working with are:
Ward, Pennington, [Taylor-Gardner] Chapman, Lawless

Direct GG+ Grandparent lines:
Adkins, Anderson, Bawle, Beaumont, Belcher, Blevins , Brockett, Canoe, Carpenter, Cock, Coleman, +++[will update list again]

My Mother Mary Jane Gardner Taylor passed away Dec 26,2011. She did so enjoy learning of all my new finds and helping as she could, to fill in missing information and facts. She will be greatly missed by so many family members and friends.

My Uncle James Edward Gardner passed away April 8 2012. He was the last of the family line of that group. Such a sad feeling of seeing the family lines end, but the next geneation now becomes the "Elders".

I saw behind me those who had gone, and before me those who are to come. I looked back and saw my father and his father and all our fathers, and in front to see my son and his son, and the sons upon sons beyond. And their eyes were my eyes. As I felt so they had felt, and were to feel, as then, so now, as tomorrow and forever. Then I was not afraid, for I was in a long line that had no beginning and no end. And the hand of his father grasped my father's hand and his hand was in mine, and my unborn son took my right hand and all, up and down the line that stretched from Time That Was to Time That Is and Is Not Yet, raised their hands to show the link. And we found that we were one....

A Prayer for Genealogists
Lord, help me dig into the past
And sift the sands of time,
That I might find the roots that made
This family tree of mine.

Lord, help me trace the ancient roads
On which my fathers trod,
And led them through so many lands
To find our present sod.

Lord, help me find an ancient book
Or dusty manuscript
That's safely hidden now away
In some forgotten crypt;

Lord, let it bridge the gap that haunts
my soul when I can't find
The missing link between some name
that ends the same as mine.

SYMPTOMS:
Continual complaints as to need for names, dates and places. Patient has blank expression, sometimes deaf to spouse and children. Has no taste for work of any kind, except feverishly looking through records at libraries, courthouses and internet, Has compulsion to write letters and send e-mail. Swears at mailman when he doesn't stop and leave mail. Frenquents strange places such as cemeteries, ruins and remote desolate country areas. Makes secret night calls. Hides phone bills from spouse and mumbles to [him or her] self. Has strange far away look in eyes.

TREATMENT:
Medication is useless. There is no known cure. Disease is not fatal, but gets progressively worse. Patient should attend genealogy workshops, subscribe to genealogy magazines and be given a quiet corner in the house where he or she can be alone.

REMARKS:
The unusual nature of this disease is...the sicker the patient gets, the more he or she seems to enjoy it!

Martin Hale - Cedar Hill
Hello
Would you please delete the picture of Mastin Hale that you added to his brother Martin's memorial? Mastin is buried in Hale Family Cemetery in Elk Creek, Grayson, Virginia. His # is 95470914 if you would attach to him.
Thanks so much,
Sarah

RE: updates
Great suggestions!! EXCEPT, all my evidence -AND oral family history points to name being Andrew "Andy" McGee as Robert's father. Robert's death certificate has Andy as his father; Robert's sister Lucretia buried in Moore Cemetery has "Daughter of A & N McGee". There was an Andrew in Owsley at the time. I'll send you another e-mail....

RE: Woodlawn UMC Cemetery
Thanks for your prompt reply. I could tell that it was a simple transcription error -- one that anyone could make. I also have just looked at the revised memorial page. I know Nancy will be pleased to see the article about Wilburn and Una Lee's anniversary. I suppose that is the best photo ever made of the two of them. Once again, thanks for your contributions to Find A Grave as well as for tidying up this particular page.

My wife Nancy, the only child of Wilburn Lee Gravley (1927-1998) and Myrtle Una Lee Smith Gravley (1926-living) would be ever so grateful if you would correct your listing from "William" to "Wilburn" (which is what the stone shows). Thank your for listing this cemetery and photographing the markers.

John Paul Phipps Memorial# 71039965
I gave you a problem with no solution. Sorry.
I did some rummaging through my Phipps family bushes and here's what I came up with.
John Paul Phipps is the son of Ernest Bryant Phipps (1906-1990) and Ruby Virginia Kirk (1908 - 1962).
Ernest Bryant Phipps is the son of Edward Frank Phipps(1879-1934) and Doris Madge Bryant (1882-1960). Edward Frank Phipps is the son of Stephen K Phipps and Martha McMillan. - Bill

It's the pain in the foot again.
It's unlikely that John Paul Phipps b. 1938 is the son of Stephen K Phipps d. 1931 and wife Mattie d 1931. I'm just sayin'. :) -- William Gammon

How did you get control of a site from her? I am one among several who can't seem to get any info from her.

Quesenberry. Additions made. Thanks.

I searched for his dad in Find A Grave and the one that came up did not match.

I had hopes of making a run on a cemetery or two in SWVa, but it rained until 4PM. Too late to start. Maybe tomorrow.
