My obsession started in Ohio 1978 when my husband's cousin wrote that their grgr/father had died in Crawford County in 1848 and could we find his grave. We drove the 97 miles with a clipboard and not a clue. The first Saturday we searched in two of the 16 cemeteries in that county, next weekend drove back again and happened upon his grave. You could have heard me yell for miles!!|
That started the search and eventually found documentation where Lt. Col. Frederick Wise had bought horses for George Washington at Valley Forge. This enabled my husband to join the Sons of the American Revolution where he has been an officer and active member since 1996.
My goal when researching a family is to find "who got off the boat", port of embarkation, name of the ship and port of immigration. Don't tell me your family came from Pennsylvania...how did they get there? Then following the family across the United States, and eventually the place of burial. Findagrave has been great for connecting people all across the country.
My family wasn't as much fun, as they immigrated from Norway in 1914.
I will transfer any name if they are not my family.

He is probably not there, unless he is in an unmarked grave. I surveyed the entire cemetery.
|Rosie Shelley||Mabel Farrell|
My name is Rosie Shelley and my husband is the grandson of Mabel Farrell. I have been working on the Farrell family tree and recently found a picture of Mabel's grave site which I didn't know existed. I have added it to her memorial. I know you added her in 2012 but is there any way to confirm that the grave site image I posted is what is there at Wirt Cemetery?
|Casandra Shurtleff||Lyle H Nelson|
I am Mavis and Lyle's granddaughter, my father is their only surviving child, Robert Lyle. I am wondering how to edit their info. Mavis did die in a house fire, along with her mother and two children, Harley and Penny. The fire was caused by a the stove, not an iron. I would also like to add contact info for myself and my sister, Penny. We are visiting Minnesota and are interested if their are any relatives still in this area. We know very little about our fathers side of the family. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you, Cassie Nelson Shurtleff

You have Jennifer listed as 6 years old & David listed as 7 years old, it's actually just the opposite, Jenny was 7 & David was 6. Maybe you could fix that.

I don't have an obituary and I made a quick check through newspapers.com but didn't come up with it. You might want to check some Schuylkill County Historical organizations if you haven't already tried them.

Oh dear, I see what you mean. The obituary supports that she is Levi's wife and mother of his children, and that she died before him. Either there are two Sarah Coopers in Wirt Cemetery with the same DOBs and the other one got accidentally connected as Levi's spouse, or the 1948 DOD is incorrect. I wonder if a photo of the gravestone would clarify the issue...do you live nearby, or should I place a photo request?
