Faith, It is sad, not only your Uncle, but hundreds of others. But it cost a lot of money to have a body sent home, the body had to be prepared, a coffin provided, also to be sure it was the right soldier. As for the cemetery, when you go there, it has sections, PA, OH, etc,. When you get to the PA section there are a number of unknown graves, he could be any one of them. But you can be sure he is there. Ted

Faith, As you know your Uncle is among the unknowns, all I can tell you is, in the PA plot in the cemetery is the unknowns, however there are no names on the markers. And no cemetery list with unknowns listed. But all the Union soldiers removed from the battlefield, other then those claimed by families, were buried in the National cemetery, cemetery has over 900 unknown soldiers that died at Gettysburg. Ted
