RE: Solomon DAY
Wow, Ashley, sorry, I never saw your message!

This is probably a flashback and a half. Unfortunately I haven't been back to Day Cemetery since 2009, but I am almost positive that Solomon's wife shared the same stone as him. I wish my picture weren't so blurry, but it was quite a rainy day!

Other pictures of people related to Day that I have (legible):

Exim Day
Lovinia Wife of Exim Day
Seminer Dau. of E. & L. Day (2 stones)
Solomon Day (a very broken stone; possibly his original one; if this seems likely, I can add it quickly to his page)
Son of Fremont & Ada Day

And another tall stone that says "Solomon" on it; the name might be "Nancy" or another with "AN Y"; I can't read the relationship.

Anyhow I do apologize for the EXTREME delay. I never even realized you'd left me a note! I hope this could be interesting if belated :)

RE: West and Hauser
I lost the pics when I got a new computer, can you refresh my memory as to who and which cemetary, I think it was one very close to my house so I can go back easily. Thanks!

West and Hauser

I have some pictures I took today of all the West & Hausers ( There is a Clarence Eisenman & a Leota West Marker ) but none specifically with the names your looking for... I will send them if you like. I searched all of section D and could not find them.

Based on cemetery maps and a few stones that had the lot numbers engraved, I found the spot where Elizabeth was buried - but she did not have a stone. I did add a photo of the area to her page.

Almeda West at Maple Shade
Wow. Surprised I did not catch that when I added her memorial. I moved the picture of the headstone to the memorial you created and removed the one I did.

If any of the other Wests in Maple Shade are related to you, let me know and I will transfer.

Wilhelmina and Ephraim West
Wilhelmina and Ephraim West are buried Section A Plot 37 with James (d.9/28/1948) grave 3, Julie (d.1977) grave 2 and Lewis West (d. 1941) grave 4. The only grave that is marked with a headstone is Almeda - which, coincidentally had the same birth and death year as Wilhelmina. Do you think Almeda and Wilhelmina are the same? I don't remember seeing the name 'Wilhelmina' listed on the plot map. Someone else added Almeda to find a grave and put the photo on if you want to check her out.

If you want to add the other Wests buried there - I'll put on the plot photo. If not, let me know and I'll add them.

William West
Yes, you were correct. William does not have a stone. I was able to locate his approximate grave area based on cemetery maps. I added the photo to his page. He is located in the area on the other side of the stone showing in the photo.

Geoffrey Krug
Minnie Dalton's Birth Year
Dear Ashley,

I was glad to locate your great-grandmother's memorial in the All Souls Cemetery, Chardon, OH. In the short amount of time which I have volunteered to take these types of photographs, I have already encountered several discrepancies between a family member's recollection of a loved one's "dates" and those actually recorded on the stone. These discrepancies tend to occur most frequently as distant dates recede in time--1883 was a long time ago, so a one-year misalignment over 125 years is not too far off. I tend to believe the stone's information as valid as this is not the place the executor of one's estate would want to make a permanent or embarrasingly expensive-to-correct error.

For your information, All Souls Chardon is a huge Catholic Church-sanctioned cemetery: in 44+ active sections of ground there are room for 150,000+ burials: every time I have gone there for photo requests, an active funeral is taking place. This is one big cemetery.

Respectfully yours,

Geoff Krug

West Family Plot
There are only 4 stones left standing. I had photographed them a few years ago and added them to the Find A Grave. Therefore I don't believe Gillette has a stone any more.
