I was born & raised in the Smokie Mountains & foot hills of the Appalachian Mountains of North Carolina & South Carolina. My Ancestors are the Pioneers who settled the Carolinas: North Carolina Counties such as Anson, Caswell, Davie, Davidson, Rowan, Forsyth, Iredell, Surry. First Immigrating to Colonial Maryland,Pennsylvania & Virginia. My Fosters Immigrated in 1635 to Colonial VA from Hunsdon Hertfordshire England. *****My Genealogy research started with my Mother Sarah Braswell Foster's Parents families of Braswell & Ratliff in the North Carolina County of Anson where I was taken to family reunions as a child and visited family cemetaries in Anson County North Carolina. My Grandmother Susan Elizabeth Ratliff Braswell could go on for hours about family history.I was able to learn related families such as Degge/Diggs, Hinson/Henson, Jernigan, Dunn, Gulledge, Boyets, Keen, Pistole, and Travis. *****Later I developed an interest in family tree research & I was able to research my Father William L. Foster's Parents families of Foster and Minnick. I found my family tree was made up of related families Davis, Combs, Orrell, Markland, Zimmerman, Tucker, Rumbley and others who settled the North Carolina Forks of the Yadkin River at OLD Winston Salem-Clemmons in FORSYTH COUNTY and ajoining OLD ROWAN (NOW DAVIE AND DAVIDSON COUNTIES NC)after moving in from Colonial Md, Va & Pa then on to Ky, Tenn, Mo, Ind & Tex. I research my wife Brenda Rice Foster's Rice, Franklins , Wallin ,Shelton related families of Madison Co & Bucombe Co NC I'm one of the Original Participants @ the FosterFTDNA project with tested DNA markers up to 67. | |

 | RE: Photo request completed I am sorry that I was unable to get better photos. The monument faces north and is in very poor condition. | | | LaDon Brennan
 | Disappearance of memorials I saw your post about having your memorials disappear. That has happened to me twice, one time it was over 100 photos I had taken in a very remote and overgrown cemetery I will never be back to. When I contacted the Admins they checked and said the photos had never been entered. I had made copies of some of the pages, and another relative remembered seeing them posted, so then they said it must have been an undetected software glitch. As for memorials, they have been able to replace 3 or 4, again they didn't know why they had been removed. Apparently when something gets deleted it (generally) remains in their database and often can be recovered. Overall, tho, the site is fantastic and the Admin always helpful. Good luck - | | | Laura J. Stewart

 | RE: Flowers Good question about why the letter is in the hands of the MS relatives and not in NC. I will try to find out as much as I can and let you know, possibly I can give you a contact in MS and hopefully there is an explanation and an original letter. The letter does say something about sending it with Mr. Henson and perhaps that has some bearing on the situation. Will let you know when I find anything. Pat | | | Patricia Dacus
 | John Flowers 24347027 Bill, I have a copy of "The History of Montgomery County" in which a lot of Flowers history is printed. A letter John Flowers (who went to Honduras)wrote to his father on Jan 18, 1868 is included in the book. Unless the person who submitted the letter put the wrong date on the letter, John did not die in 1859. He wrote the letter before he went to Honduras as he writes "I think of going to Spanish or British Honduras, and if I like that country, I calculate to leave this country of trouble and sorrow". I'm happy to share the contents of the letter with you if you want to send me your email address. Perhaps John died in 1869?? Pat Dacus | | | deegraver

 | Hall family cemetery Now, I see what you are asking about. I don't know exactly where this property is located. My husband did some work for the man that owns the land. He told my husband about the graves. I really don't know anymore about the location. Pat ---------- Hall family cemetery Cemetery notes and/or description: These graves are on 40 acres of land that was recently sold to a private owner. It is said there are a couple more graves on this property but the location is not known at this time.Added by Pat on Feb 25, 2013 4:12 PM | | | | [View all messages...] |
