Bio Photo Have been doing genealogy for probably 20 years now. Took over from aunts that did it for about 25 years (the long way). I really enjoy uncovering the history that is involved.

RE: Center Street Cemetery
We are restoring the abandoned cemeteries. Abandoned means that no one has been buried in over 40 years, no one can be buried there and there is no association or money to care for it. The town had to maintain the grass but nothing more. In 2007 volunteers cleaned then headstones in Center Street Cemetery. I was asked to go.I didn't know how to get out of it and brought my camera in case i got board. I was fascinated. Here is a link to a movie I did on the volunteer day if you are interested. Most o the headstone in these picture that are broken have now been restored

We petitioned the state and were granted ownership which allowed us to restore the fallen stones. If you go to the town web site you'll find a record for each cemetery (abandoned) with the names of the buried. Its been there since I started in 2007. The 3 active cemeteries are not there. Aspetuck Cemetery is active and the association has the records, Have never seen them published

Ya he is going through this cemetery taking photos so he must have just added the photo randomly not realizing there was a request for it, so I think if you don't claim it and fulfill it then it doesn't get removed. I'm helping him with the listings so I just happened to notice this and hadn't even thought of this scenario before now. I'll let him know. Thanks! Glad you got the photo:-)

Hi the grave photo has been added to the memorial by a fellow contributor so you may wish to please remove the request for grave photo from this cemetery, just a suggestion. Thanks! He is in Section I, Plot 39. Thanks!

Fanton
Betty...in regards to the request for the Fantons in "Rollins" Cemetery in Voluntown, CT. The cemetery you want is "Robbins". I've done loads of requests there and once the 5 inches of snow melts I'll head out and see if I can locate them for you.

RE: Mary L Fanton

Your welcome. I have a picture of every headstone in the 4 abandoned cemeteries which the town took ownership on several years ago. I have a correction on the cemetery. It is not Aspetuck Cemetery. Its actually call Center Street Cemetery. The sign has been up sign 2010 and a committee is working on a database. Most of the Find a grave requests for Aspetuck Cemetery are really the headstones in Center Street Cemetery. Am not sure how you want to handle this. If you want to make the correction for this I can send you the pictures of the sign and info
