Bio and Links
Bio Photo I have been somewhat interested in my family ancestry since the 70s however since I retired in 2006, I've really gotten into it. Its a great hobby and I have found it can become quite addicting. I live in the North Texas area now and have no ancestors in this area(mine are all in the New England and New Brunswick, Canada area), so I thought I would try to help others who DO have ancestry here. I don't mind going to the local cemeteries looking for headstones and at the same time improving this website with even more pictures and info.
I only wish that more people who use the site would volunteer by taking photos at their local cemeteries.

RE: Mariah Newman
I don't remember having to clean off the stone.

It may have been cleaned by rain.

Or the time of day (lighting).

You're very welcome Donna!

We just got back today from our annual 4th of July trek to the island. I am still looking for your Jeremiah luck yet. I do have a lot of photos to upload so I'll be busy for a while.

We actually went to Hillside Cemetery in Eastport and tried to fullfill some requests there as well. That is a very large cemetery and it was sooooo hot I couldn't stay there very long.

We are heading back up in August so if you need any other photos let me know or do a photo request and I'll see what I can do.

RE: Capt Charles Henry Palmer

Well, if Capt. Palmer is listed in the virtual cemetery for Sailor's Snug Harbour, I feel confident that he is buried there. The public does not have access to the markers locked away in the basement of the chapel, but for data on Capt. Palmer, you might wish to contact
Greg Murphy
Archivist // Reference Librarian
Stephen B. Luce Library
Maritime College, SUNY
6 Pennyfield Avenue
Throggs Neck, NY 10465

He has access to all the records of those who had lived at SSH. There is also this address which is VERY interesting, although I did not look for Capt. Palmer therein:

And for fun you might wish to pick up a copy of this movie... A bit hokey, but the historical parts are well worth it, including a quick view into the basement of the chapel:

RE: Capt Charles Henry Palmer
I am VERY interested in seeing the memorials to these men enhanced, including photos of each man himself. I loathe the thought of them fading into obscurity or even oblivion! Any photos you can post for their memorials will be greatly appreciated! Short of stumbling across them myself, I have no resource for photos for the men... Although I do have some from the Noble Maritime Museum display.
