Harvey Bridges marker
As soon as the snow clears I will photograph the marker, Chris. Let me know if there are any other in the Seiling area. Haven't found any information on Harvey in the local history books though. Sandy Bush

RE: Burgar/Burger Family Histories
Chris, I have tried several times to contact you, but to no avail. Please email me so we an get our heads together on this. doriharvey at
I totally agree...George was Peter and Ann (Nelson)
Burgars all makes a lot of sense to me.
He married Dorothy Maybee, and I believe they moved to New York state...possibly Dorothy died.

Claude Beck
Found Claude Beck in Section 7, Lot 27, Space 6. There were other Becks in the same lot (I don't know the spaces). I found Jessie A. Beck (1898-1981), Luther Beck (1889-1977) and Sallie A. Beck (1892-1974). There were no memorials for these Becks, so I created them. This looks like a family plot so they are probably connected. If you would like I will transfer them to you. Let me know.

RE: Missing Headstone
Hi Chris! The cemetery itself has no markings of rows or sections but they gave us a copy of the layout(not of graves, just sections and rows) and we located the section and row for Augustin in the record book. You just basically go up and down that section looking at every stone in case the name was given incorrectly, etc. There were two Barbiers in that section and row but no Augustin. This is a very old cemetery so he could be there unmarked very easily, some stones the writing was completely missing, etc. But to say I could go straight to where he was SUPPOSED to be, I would say there is no way to tell. Sorry!

RE: Burgar/Burger Family Histories
Dear Chris, I have tried to contact you several times, and was told you were in the service, thus not available.
I presume that our families in Kansas began comparing notes, and found there was a connection between the families, as I have some obits from Hirams daughters, and they clearly refer to the Burger family as their "cousins".
Knowing this I have concluded that Peter (Burgar) & his wife Ann Nelson, were parents of your George Nelson. They immigrated from New Jersey to Ontario, Canada before 1800, and settled around Welland.
Their son George (he spelled it Jorge when he applied for crown land) married Dorothy Mabee (dau of Lewis Mabee from New York, and a UEL). From what I have learned, they had (I believe 3 daughters) and were living in the Fort Erie area. It appears that either Dorothy died, or perhaps they divorced. I did find them in a census, but not sure the date, without looking at my notes.
However, it is quite believable that he married his second wife in that vicinity...and that being the case, the rest is history. I would love to hear from you and learn more...I have done quite a lot of tracing your family, and I would love to share.

Henry Booth Metcalf
Chris, I took pictures at Clear Creek Cemetery in Sevier, AR- I see that you posted that Henry was actually buried in Manila American Cemetery. I would like to correct mine if it is just "in memory of" in Clear Creek. Thanks

Medcalf--St Luke's Parish, MD
Chris--I too have relatives at the St Luke's Parish cemetery in MD. Last fall I had the opportunity to visit the cemetery, but there are no headstones dating that far back. The staff at the church said that most of the time they were buried at their homesteads that fell within the boundaries of the Parish and so were recorded as being buried at St Luke's. Hope this helps.

Covey Family
Hi Chris. We took a picture of the CM Brown stone today. We didn't notice the extra request of the Covey Family until we got back, but will try to look again on next trip. I saw some setup on here under the Denver Cemetery in Montague County, not sure on that. I have never been there.
