|Barclay Hurst||Joseph Bateman Portrait|
The portrait that you have posted for Joseph Bateman (1802-1855) is also posted for his nephew Jopseph W. Bateman (1837-1890). Are you certain that you have the correct portrait? This appears to be a man in his 40's so that would make mean the portrait would have been taken before 1850 and that is very early since photography was only invented in the 1830's.
It is possible that he is older than he appears but I think it likely that this is his nephew since he was born 35 years later in 1837.
Anyway, I just thought I would ask.

Thanks, but it was actually Maren Orton White (#47974622)who found her and photographed the stone. I just set up the memorial. It seems she didn't make it into transcribed records because her stone was so hard to read and on the stone Hoersch (for Justina and her husband Johann) had the German script for Hörsch which was hard to decipher. Are you related to Bettger or Hoersch?

Brenda, I visited this cemetery today and photographed the grave of James Whittington. He was buried to the left of his wife Louvicy. To the left of James was a child's grave. The inscription read "Lillie Whittington, Born July 20, 1870, Died Jan ? 1879. The exact date is a single digit, but impossible to read. I photographed her headstone too. There is no memorial page for her, so I will create one. I'm assuming Lillie is the daughter of James and Louvicy, but I wanted to make sure before I link her to her parents. Could you confirm that for me? Thank you. If she is their daughter, I will transfer her memorial page to you. --Bob

Both have the same picture added to them. The first one is the second one's grandfather. Do you know which Joseph this image is?

I'm eventually going to be taking photos of all of the headstones in Bethel Grove Cemetery, but I'm not sure when.
