I started tracing my family tree in 1997. I live in San Diego and have to do much of my work long distance and have often depended on the kindness of strangers.
When I found Findagrave I saw it as a way to honor my ancestors and provide help to those who have loved ones buried here. Not everyone in my family gets this, but I enjoy tramping through cemeteries.
I continue to look for opportunities to expand the Findagrave database. A few months ago I was walking through Mount Hope Cemetery and I stumbled upon graves dedicated to Woodmen of the World/Women of Woodcraft. It is a group that was founded in 1899 to provide group life insurance, and from 1899 to 1935 they would provide a tombstone for members who died. I'm currently walking through local cemeteries and creating memorials for these men and women. I've made it one of my virtual cemeteries.

 | William and Alexandria Boaz Hello, I found that my father William D Boaz and my mother Alexandria have been listed on Find A Grave. I am their daughter and hadn't listed them yet as it was still hard for me. Could you transfer managing their Find A grave memorials to me as I would appreciate it very much. I dont' think there would be a point to starting another one for each of them. Appreciate your feedback and thank you for your help and the great work you do. Andria | | | Tori Ridosh

 | RE: Dorothy Geissler Hi Tom, Thanks for contacting me. The Geissler's are connected to my family because Eugene Geissler a widower with sons married my Aunt Naomi with daughters. Dorothy being his first wife. I never found out through family who exactly Dorothy B. belongs to. I have a suspicion that she was Alfred's (my uncle's brother)and Dorothy Tibbs Geissler's daughter but honestly, I don't know for sure at this point. If you would like to transfer management to me I would be happy to take over. Most all of the Geisslers' are in Fireman's Circle at Greenwood so I photographed and uploaded all that I could to Find A Grave. Thanks again for your thoughtfulness.
