I have been an avid cemetery hunter for at least 35+ years, My Mom had us (her children) off gallivanting cemeteries when she started researching my fathers Sutphin clan in the 70's |
While growing up many a weekend was spent looking for long lost graveyards and feeling the excitement of finding the final resting place of our relatives..
All of her children when traveling still go through the local phone books for any Sutphin residents..lol
What Mom instilled into us is a gift in my eyes..to remember and honor those before us and never forget where we came from.
Thank you Mom for being my inspiration and my hero, Without your Love, Support, knowledge and patience of my endless supply of question and your roomful of notebooks and your years of listening to the family histories told to you by so many this Crazy journey would not be possible.
I Have been working on my husbands genealogy for around 12 years .
I happily accept any help ,corrections, new Friends and family members.
We are all on the same quest of finding our forefathers and all our kin :)
Seeking all Relations to Hendrick Sutphin line As well as Armentrout, Blackwell , Burns , McCown and those elusive Tyler's of Rockbridge and surrounding areas..lol
A lot of the pictures I have posted are newer graves, when I cemetery hunt, I take pictures of all the stones and resting places new and old, that time or weather will allow I never wish to upset any of the families..I simply am trying to save some steps for future genealogist and maybe allow a family member far away to see a picture of their kins final resting place.
Many of the stones I attempt to photo document need a little enhancement to read the names and dates..due to the controversy of shaving creams, chalk and other sources..I use Herbal Choice, an all natural shave cream.
Find A Grave gives us an "Unknown" choice for burials or cremations, etc. and if it's a known fact that these people are dead, and they will most likely never be officially linked to any particular burial place, they also have a right to be remembered and to be linked to their other family members.
I will gladly link those who have an unknown status.
That can easily be changed if they are proved to be in any particular place.
A Special Thank You for his help and patience goes to my Friend Michael Nestor as I attempt to figure out the Goads and Nesters that touch so many of the family lines in My Wonderful part of Southwest Va.
Thanks goes to my partner in Crime ,My Snake & spider killer ,Bee and Black Bear chaser offer.
My Hubby :)

Donna have you been into Find A Grave this week since they have been putting info onto our memorials that is not necessarily correct. I don't know how they are doing it? I think I have corrected most of my memorials at Ross Cemetery but if you find something I missed let me know. I know we have spent a lot of time and effort on these.

No problem. Typos happen. Just thought it would help to clean up the database a little bit.
Sorry my mistake, probably the first one in my life, and if you believe that I have so swamp land in Arizona.....etc.....

Thank you, Donna. The photo was taken in the wintertime of 1979 at the home in Mabscott/Beckley. I think that is why I decided to move to Chicago, as I missed the wintertime snows. I'm glad that several photo of Dad are on the findagrave memorial page--for his various neices/nephews and grandchildren.

I have deleted Pamela Wright's memorial per your request.
Sorry for the delay. The links are done and I had a photo I posted as well.
