Thank you
Thank you for visiting my daughter, April Himes.

Listening to Janis Joplin albums is one of my earliest memories. I was about nine when she become known. My older brother had her albums and I just took them from him and played them all the time. I was thirteen when she died, and I was completely in mourning. I wore a black armband with my Catholic school uniform. The principal was neither impressed nor sympathetic.

Even today, I have a small poster of Janis that I had framed in my room, as well as a bunch of stamps from other countries that I got off eBay a few years back. And I still have my albums. My daughter gave me a record player a few years back and I still listen to them, scratches and all, or maybe because of the scratches and hissing.

"Little Girl Blue" was the song I played each time life got a little harder. It was what got me through the night. And I've never forgotten it even now that I'm 50. I've never seen the documentary "Janis" because by not watching it, she's still alive in some way because there's something of her I haven't seen or heard. Strange? Yes, I know. But it's comforting to me still.

Janis Joplin
I like what you wrote in the flower you left on her angel day. :Little Girl Blue" helped get me through many a painful family situation in my youth. Janis singing that song was one of the few things I could rely upon to help soothe me.
