Our Interest in the Findagrave come as researchers of our Family History
To bring back to memory the history of a life that was lived,
My Surname -Paternal O'Shields-Hyatt-Mayes-Smith-Black-Maternal-Riddle-Rampley-Wilson
-Watson-Hewitt
Doris family Surname -Wilson Lusk Corbin-Smith Beck, Maternal--Rice -Moore-Pitman-Andrews-Gosnell--Shipman--Merrill--Ashworth-
all of these listed are Grandparents.
We are working to connect families together on F.A.G To make it an easy process for anyone in search of their family history. My purpose is to help.
F,A,G is the most helpful tool I have come across in doing research. I personally think it is better than D,N,A when a family member knows who is related. It can reach from State to State.
So if anyone knows where a mistake has been made please let us know.

RE: NEWSPAPER
I don't recall exactly what I sent you as I send out some many of these things. LOL The text below is what was given to me and attributed to that article.

HEWITT, EDWIN – Born March 25, 1836 at Glenn Springs, S.C. Enlisted 1862, Co. E, Holcombe Legion. Capt. A.B. WOODRUFF. Farming.

Email me with specific names and I can check my references. I have multiple books cataloging the fate of many SC Civil War soldiers.

I have several family members in this cemetery. I was able to find on the internet a list of tombstones in this cemetery as of 2003. I found the other O'Shields on this list, but not Hugh Henry. I am not sure there will be a stone for Hugh Henry, but this is what I see from that list..... Mary and Hugh are on row 7 about half way. There are 3 unidentified stones on one side of them and on the other side there is a Allen and another unidentified stone. Not for sure about the row in from or in back matching up, but there are no other O'Shields listed till row 10 and that is an infant. Maybe he is one of the unidentified stones. Doug is right, there are 3 large trees with large leaves close to this area, making flat stones very hard to find. I see that Mary and Hugh's stone is not flat, so I will try to check on these unident. stones next time I am that way. Nancy

RE: Wilson Stanyard O'Shields
Have you also found a headstone for him in Union? I don't have access to ancestry right now but what does the dc say? Maybe he was orginally interred there and later moved to West Oakwood or vice versus. When a person is moved the original headstone is not always removed. Can be very confusing when that happens. I have found several in Oakwood that were left there when the body was re-interred somewhere else. You could try checking with Floyd's to see what records they have. The library has some early records from Floyd's but I can't remember what years right off.

If you determine that he's not in West Oakwood, let me know and I'll add a link on the memorial. Or if you would like I can transfer it to you.

I see that you moved these memorials from Friendship Baptist Church to Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, so I have deleted mine. After creating them at Greenlawn, I realized that you had created them also at Friendship Baptist Church. I sent a message, offering to delete mine if you wanted to move yours into the correct cemetery. I didn't get a response, so I didn't consider them duplicates.

John Rampley
I posted a copy of John's obit on his memorial. The obit and his death certificate say that he was buried at Trinity.

I don't know if he was moved to Whitmire Cemetery or they decided to put a marker for him there with Nannie, but I believe he was originally buried at Trinity.
