I've been interested in genealogy for so long now I can't remember when I started. Actually, my little sister got me interested in it long before computers were commonplace. She was the patient one, able to write letters and then sit back and wait for a response. She passed away in 1993 and I inherited her "family files". Too bad I didn't inherit her patience. I am so thankful for today's technology.|
I became a Find-a-Grave member over 4 years ago and am so glad I did. Information I have discovered due to the diligent work of others has proven to be invaluable. I have even found and became acquainted with "cousins" heretofore unknown. Some are like shirt tail relatives and others are more closely related but it is always a thrill to discover a connection. For those I've contacted, I must say, you meet the nicest people in a graveyard.
I have confined my Find-a-Grave memorials to my own family lines (including my wife's family) so, at this time, it has not grown very large – not like some contributors I've noticed. However, if I had the time (and patience), I think cemetery walking would be a wonderful pastime to add to my genealogy hobby. I would really enjoy helping others find information about their past which sometimes can only be found in cemeteries.
I am primarily searching for family connections with Lambert, Reagor, Everett, Carroll, Jordan, Wyatt, Naifeh and Cohlmia . . . those are the branches but there are many, many limbs of interest as well.
I live on the West Coast in a small town in the San Joaquin Valley. As I have time, I will gladly fill photo requests for those cemeteries that are near. Let me know if there is any area in which you think I can help.
