memorial #85220984
Hi Julie
I was notified that the photo on the memorial for Elizabeth Lanning at Lakeview Cem is instead a photo of the grave of Elizabeth Graham. I created the memorial, but you submitted the photo, so I can't edit that.
Thanks. Joanne

RE: Elizabeth Beardslee - Sashabaw
My fall-d-rah was about who posted the photo - you or Lynn. It didn't matter to me and I'm not one to point fingers at people who just happen to skim from other locations even though Find A Grave frowns on it, even with permission as you indicated you had. Some don't bother asking. Anyway, thanks for taking the photo off the wrong Elizabeth. Hopefully we can get a correct one posted and I look forward to your help in sorting these two Elizabeths out. These old headstones seem to be somewhat of a pain, particularly the one's that are disappearing over time and make it hard to photograph and hard to read even if you are standing in front of the darn thing!

Elizabeth Beardslee - Sashabaw

You posted a photo of Elizabeth Beardslees marker on the Elizabeth Beardslee who died in 1880.

It looks like the tombstone shows a birth date of Oct 1810 -- and the name J. W. Beardslee, which would be John Wheeler Beardslee. The Elizabeth that is married to John is Elizabeth Carpenter Beardslee.

This Elizabeth in question is the daughter of Henry C. and Harriet (Lounsbury) Beardslee. She was born in 1877 and died 1880.

I suspect that your grave photo was mistakenly placed on this name. Lynn Warren also posted your photo -- or at least I think it is your photo on Elizabeth Carpenter Beardslee's memorial.

As I can't remember if your photo had the blue backpack sticking out from behind the tombstone or if it was a photo taken by him, it doesn't matter to me as I'm not into all this fall-d-rah about copyright about tombstone photos, so I don't care who took which one. Anyway, the whole point is that the same photo got posted on both Elizabeth's who are buried in this cemetery.

I don't know when the next time you plan on visiting the cemetery, but was wondering if you could go back and run your hands over the face of this one to confirm that the date that I'm seeing is Oct 1810. Also, is it on the back of John's marker? Or next to his?

Could you then find and take a photo of the Elizabeth who was born 1877 and died 1880 and post to her memorial and removing the one posted?

Look forward to hearing from you.

RE: Lawsons
I know what you mean about help there. I have been going there to visit my family since 1964 and I can see in the past year that the place has gone to hell in a hand basket! The lady I spoke with on the phone today was helpful but believe me I have been there where the office help is clueless! LOL Thanks again for your help.
