RE: John Eugene and Georgia Evelyn Stokes
Your welcome. I grew up going to Coy Methodist Church and when I first got involved with Find A Grave, there were only about 195 interments there so I took pictures of all the tombstones and added the rest of the interments. Still have a few to add but can't read the stones. Will have to go back and do rubbings of those.
Glad to help. This has been a worthwhile project.

Gully Gravesites
Hey Mary Joy,

You are very welcome. My Mother is a Fulton and she grew up at Coy and we grew up going to church there every Sunday. My grandmother was a Stokes, so I am related to all the Fulton's buried there and most, if not all the Stokes.

I was glad to get the pictures. The Find A Grave site for Coy had very few interments, so I have added the majority of the people that are now listed there and now have about 350 more names to add to this cemetery.

The Gully graves were a little difficult because they are small, almost flat headstones, so you have to walk all the rows to find.

If you need anything else, please let me know. Hopefully in the next few weeks, Coy Cemetery will be complete!

Transfer co,pleted.

I also researched for his wife, but the only thing that I can find is a record of their marriage which was recorded in Ann Brown's "Jeffferson County Mississippi, Cemeeteries, Etc., Volume II" p. 65.

This page also records his tombstone as being in an area with" no identifiable lot markers".

There may be open space next to him, but that could be for a variety of reasons as this is the older portions of the cemetery.

Ann Brown's survey of the Fayette Cemetery was completed in 1994/5,

I will look for her again under the name Ida Shaw. I know there are some Shaws in that cemetery.
