I am writing about the photo posted by BANBURN, for the gravestone of Rachel Payne Craig. I thought if you took the photo, you might be able to read the words. It is a very old stone and is located in Craig Cemetery in Otwell, Indiana (the hometown of my great grandmother and many other family members)
I sorry I just gave her maiden name, but also provided the memorial # 61417039.
RE: Meridian Cemetery You're welcome. Regarding Harriet V. Jacobs Meyers she is in the I.O.O.F. Section and I've completely photographed this section so she has no headstone.
The I.O.O.F Section is the older section. I am in the process of moving right now so I've packed the maps we drew but because of this I searched online and found a very detailed map of the sections. I couldn't believe it. I had my map set up very similar so I knew the areas but this actually lists the plots too! I'm going to send you an email with this map. The yellow highlighted section is I.O.O.F. and I fully photographed this section as of 2012 so as of that time Harriet had no marker.
Let me know if you get my email okay with the map. I'm sending it right now.
Also regarding maps there isn't really any but my mom and I had worked on photographing and locating at the least the sections at Meridian Cemetery. We've made our own drawn maps. We know where the main sections are. We've had to do this because the cemetery office would not give us information or help locate sections and records have been lost. We've found proof of missing records for deaths in the early 1900's. Also I believe it was Franklin road that used to be part of the cemetery too and I don't know what happened to those people when they built the road.
I have photographed nearly the entire cemetery over the past 3 years. There is a half a section that I still need to finish across and in front of the cemetery office. Is there someone in particular you are searching for? Just let me know and I can see what I can find out for you.
Colburn Well I see that your related to Colburns... there was a (shotgun)nick name & Ann Colburn that lived in Lake county , Indiana. they passed away somewhere in the mid 70's early 1980's , more then likely buried in lake county Indiana, I would have to ask my mother where buried, thought they could be part of your family, they were friend to my parents , I once lived in there old house and I don't know if its still standing which would be 140 miles from where I now live.
