I've always had in interest in "where did I come from" since about the age of 12. I grew up in Goshen yet, when I asked my teachers how to go about tracing my roots, none ever mentioned the existence of the Orange County Genealogical Society. My interest in genealogy was re-fueled when I was given the 1850 bible of my husband's great-grandparents. His 3rd great grandfather is buried in what used to be a family cemetery that is now in someone's back yard just up the road from my home.

I tend to wander cemeteries while looking for the various lines I work on, and am now snapping up photos here and there and posting them on find a grave.

Anytime I look at obituaries, I look at every one that is listed on the page. I then will add those individuals to find a grave if they are not listed. My most recent ones come from the now defunct Newburgh Evening News. Since there is no copy and paste feature, I re-type the info to find a grave. Please let me know if there are typos I need to fix.

RE: Maud Arnold
I run into that as well. There are not only duplicate cemeteries, but called something else, or someone just sort of didn't know. Sorry, I hope you don't get too many of these about Maud Arnold. I apologize but am grateful for your explanation.

Hi Kathy,
All you have to do is to go to your memorials, right click on the photo and save it to your hard drive. Then you can go to my memorial and upload it again. Lori

Thanks, Kathy. I'll keep tabs on it. Find A Grave is pretty backed up right now, so it may take a month or longer. Lori

RE: Hannah Pembleton
Hi Kathy,

Thank you for the information.
Sad to hear about the fire and losss of records. Such is sometimes the case with these older cemeteries and mortuaries.

Thanks again,

Vickie Smejkal

Hannah Pembleton
Hi Kathy,

Any chance the cemetery folks have info on this Hannah?
I'm looking for Hannah Brooks b. 15 Oct 1815 d. 3 Nov 1800. She married Nathan Pembleton.

They are from the Highland Mills area.

Thank you,

Vickie Smejkal

I 'm sorry i have no idea on that. I'm just finding out info on my fathers side of the family. There might be other cousins that might be able to tell me, if i find out i'll pass it on.
