I have been doing genealogy for a few years now. My relatives were from England, Germany, Poland, France, New York and Michigan. I have been to many Michigan cemeteries and have also traveled to the Rochester, NY area.
My 5th Great Grandpa Hezekiah Boughton donated part of his property for a cemetery which bears the name BOUGHTON HILL CEMETERY in Victor, NY. The town of Victor, NY was also named after one of my relatives, Claudius Victor Boughton.
Some surnames I am related to are: BOUTON, BOUGHTON, PHELPS, SOVA, SWADLING, HADDEN, SCHAFF, GRAMACKI, MALECKI, REZLER and BIELINSKI.
My husband is related to OEHRING, WEISBARTH, HERBST, RESCHKE, YOCKEY, TAFEL, MCKAY, GRAHAM, MCEWEN and GRANGER.
*If there are any corrections that need to be made to a memorial please let me know*

 | RE: Valorus A. Paine grave When I originally did my PAINE research about 14 years ago, I too had Christopher as a sibling of Valorous. However, I've been taking another look at it all, especially since the NY land and probate records are now available as well as the 1855 census. "Unpublished Family Bible Records", DAR, NY chapter, Genealogical Research Committee, vol 15., p. 170-171, includes among "Joseph Wilkinson Bible Records", the family record for Asa Paine and Amy Angell. Children listed: Sophronia, Cordelia, Valorous Angell, Veder Williams, Asa Hammond, James Lawrence, Amy Ann, Sarah, Maria. Also, 2nd wife Zylpha Burch. (What is missing is his 2nd marriage to Jane Rosabelle ____, d. 1849 and their two daughters Rosabelle and Ellen Lorana.)
Orleans County deeds vol. 70, p. 5: Heirs of Asa Paine to Veeder W. Paine, 1868, lists the following: Asa H. Paine and wife Jane; James L. Paine and wife Naomi Christine; Amy A. Palmer; Sarah M. Nichols; Harriet Paine, widow of Valorous and her children Alderman Paine and wife Jennie and Kitty.
The Rebecca who is with Asa in the 1850 census I believe to be his niece, daughter of his older brother Nathan Paine. The transcriber of the 1855 census (as well as myself in 1999) assumed Rebecca to be a spouse of Asa, and so Christopher a child. Actually a look at the census image shows that Rebecca of the 1855 census is listed as Christopher's wife (despite the astounding age difference). I have traced them to 1900.
BTW, Amy A. Paine married Smith Palmer (buried in Saginaw).
Oh, and my connection - I'm descended from Zattu, a brother of Asa Paine. | | | Jennifer Clark
 | RE: Valorus A. Paine grave Thanks for such a prompt reply. I descended from Zattu Paine, a brother of Valorus and Veeder Paine's father Asa. Asa's marriages and children get quite confusing and I'm trying to sort them out. Stumbling across the grave info muddied the waters a bit as far as some children, but clarified them for others. Give me some time, and I'll sort out what I come up with and then I'll run it by you for your input.

 | Valorus A. Paine grave I'm curious as to the source of the extra information about Valorus - names of his brothers and sisters especially. Was that from the actual gravestone or elsewhere?
Thanks for your efforts to document so many folks from long ago.
