Bio and Links
Bio Photo I am a Pittsburg, Ks. native, born and raised but have spent the past 40 years in the KC area. I came across the FAG site while googling for cemetery records and was hooked. It has been such a blessing to me as my relatives are all buried in Pittsburg and I don't get home as often as I'd like to place flowers on their graves. Also my grief for my baby, C.J. Hopper, who was stillborn in 1972 and whose body was taken from me by the hospital staff, never to be accounted for, has been assuaged by my ability to have a "gravesite" to visit for him. This has brought me the peace I'd longed for all these years. Rest in peace until I join you, my sweet baby. You were never forgotten.
Please visit the grave of my childhood best friend, Elmotie Scroggins, Jr., a Vietnam Vet who was killed by a drunk driver, whose punishment was a $15 DWI ticket. Elmotie was black, the driver was white, the son of an "influential" white family, and when Elmotie's mother tried to press charges, she was advised to let it rest if she valued her little girls. The injustice of it all still haunts me, even after over 34 yrs. have passed. No matter who my date was, for six years of proms and homecoming dances, they knew the last dance was always saved for my best friend, Elmotie. Since I first heard he'd passed away, wherever I might be, when the last dance music is played, I sit that one out. Until the day we are reunited, I will save that last dance for him...

If you would, please see the poem written by my sister on my mother's site, Rose Laughlin Shelburn. I feel it can be a blessing to anyone dealing with grief. Always know, they all wait for us, and what a reunion that will be!

Peggy
You have my deepest sympathy for your loss. I left tokens for your parents and Elmotie and added Elmotie to my "Gone Too Soon" VC. florida boy 64 (one of my Find A Grave friends) told me about Elmotie, and I agree that his death was exceptionally tragic -- and that it was a total disgrace the way the guy who killed him walked.
If you could please leave a token for florida boy's friend, Cynthia Gillig-Stone, as well as tokens for Troy William Cole, Luigi Accursi, Roberta Page, and Peyton Russell House, I would appreciate it very much.

RE: Richard Alan Scott, Leavenworth
Hi Peggy, to get his memorial transferred over to your sister-in-law she would need a Find A Grave ID, and then just request me to transfer the page over to her ID number. I tend to set aside all things Find A Grave that pile up in those message boxes, sorry but I do. For best and quickest follow through just make the request via my principal email direct with Richard Alan Scott in the subject line. I would need her Find A Grave number and his memorial page number.

Something in Common
Hi Peggy we both have something in common. We both lost friends by a drunk driver. Your friend Elmotie and my friend Cynthia 75864427 Could you please leave her a flower I would be so grateful I will tell you this the woman who killed her was one of the most wealthy in the county that Cynthia was killed in and she walked. I went to see her grave last year and it was painful and I told a friend of hers about it and she was glad I id and also told me that she fought off cancer and won the battle only for that to happened. I will visit your friend more often thank you

RE: Are we related?
I do have some Laughlins in my family tree.

I have a Fentrice Lee Laughlin, born Oct 12 1890 and died in Nowata, Oklahoma on Nov 3 1944. He was married to a Mary Brunett(?) Beaver, born jan 20 1892 in Granby Mo and died in Supulpa Creek Oklahoma on Feb 2 1984. They had 7 children:
Loryene sep 9 19114 in Powell Mo
Roberta
Altha V.
Norma Charolotte
Fentrise Jr born in Keiffer Oklahoma in 1922 and died Nov 29 1945
Laverne (male) born 1927 in Keiffer Ok, died dec 1969 in Bethany Ok
Doris born 1929 in Keiffer Ok and died Jun 1937 in Supulpa Creek Ok

I have quite a few Beavers in my tree who married into the Capps and that might be the reason for having this line of Laughlins. So it is very possible that one of them might have married someone named Capps.

I live in Granby MO & most of my Capps were from this area: Granby, Neosho, Ritchie, Stella, and there may have been some down in Mac County.
