I've always been fascinated with genetics from a very young age.
I took Equine Reproduction and Management in college, and was absorbed in the genetics portion of the course - I've just always loved the subject; I think that is what prompted my interest in genealogy, to an extent.
My family did n't keep any records or pictures; there is nothing left - no pictures or anything, prior to my mother's lifetime, virtually.
I decided a few years back that I wanted to know more of my grandfather's family, so I went to the library one night to see what I could find out.
I think I discovered a bit what it must be like to be on drugs, that night, because when I found the Census records online showing my grandfather's family in the 1870's, I was hooked - the more I found, the more I had to have!
My search for my lost heritage has been a long one; thrilling, frustrating, fascinating, and a wonderful experience that I know now will never end.
Some of the Ancestors are proving quite stubborn about being located; sometimes, I think they don't want to be found!
Sometimes, I think they are crowding around, elbowing each other in the ribs to get to the front to be found, too, the way things turn out...
My mother tried to do genealogy research when I was a teenager, & I was bored and had the "can-we-go-yet?" attitude before we got in the parking lot of courthouse in the next county over!
Go figure, huh?!
