Bradens at Bethel Cemetery
I was just curious if you are directly related to the Braden's you have at this cemetery. I am the family genealogist for my husband's family whose mother is Braden. I have a lot of information that I can add to these if you would be so kind to transfer them to me.
Thank you.

RE: M. R. Preslar
Deborah,
I would love to know your Preslar line, specifically through which of Hosea's siblings? You know much more about the Preslars - would you check my memorial for Hosea - do I have his siblings correct?

I was surprised that he did not have a memorial on Findagrave - only 3 of his children did. I have searched and searched but still have not found his daughters Martha (Drury Williams) and Harriett (John M Taylor). Do you know where they are buried?

Also do you know anything about the trip from NC to TN? Hosea kept all kinds of records and was a writer - he must have kept a journal or some records about the trip. But I can find nothing except what he wrote in his book "Divine Providence" about his reason for moving and that all his family went with him.

Actually I would love any information on the Preslar/Presley family. I guess you can tell they are special to me! : )

Re: M. R. Preslar
Deborah.
No, I have not seen Madison or Malessia Presley's graves. I live in Memphis and have never been to the Yorkville Cemetery. From the 1,396 graves on Findagrave, I believe it must be a huge cemetery and in the pictures it appears to be well kept. There must be records of the interments. I do believe Madison and Malessia are buried there because both of their death certificates show Yorkville. But, I cannot find any website for it. Have you been to the cemetery? If not, I do have a suggestion... I would contact the volunteer photographers that have posted photos for the Yorkville Cemetery. They might have some records for the cemetery OR be able to tell you who to contact. I notice one is "treetracer" he has posted several photos. Another is "Stone-De-cypherer". Both appear to be active.

It might also help if you would request a photo for Madison's grave. I tried to but I'm over my weekly limit and couldn't. : ) Also, I notice you haven't made memorials for Lora and Malessia (that name has got to be Melissa!). If you did, a relative might contact you. I found a copy of Lora's obituary. If you don't have it, let me know. You might be able to contact relatives through the names of her siblings.

It is possible that we are related but in a very distant way. I am not in the Preslar/Presley line. My connection is due to my respect and appreciation of Elder Hosea Preslar. Hosea was my g.g.grandmother Catherine Stewart's pastor, neighbor and friend in Anson County NC. (Also Catherine's daughter, Nancy Stewart married Hosea's younger brother Stephen Preslar.) In 1850 Hosea decided to leave NC and move to West TN in search of more fertile ground to support his family. His parents and all his siblings joined him, except one brother who was already in TN. My g.g.grandmother Catherine who was then widowed and several others decided to make the trip with Hosea. Catherine and her 8 children packed their wagon(s), left their homes in NC, crossed the mountains and settled in Henderson County, TN. I cannot imagine crossing the mountains in a wagon!! What strength, courage and faith they must have had! If Hosea had not led them safely to TN, I and my family would not exist! HA

In appreciation to Hosea I decided to make memorials on Findagrave for him, his wife Rhoda and his children. While researching his children, I came across a death certificate for M R Preslar. All that said to explain why I made M R Preslar's memorial. Although he was not one of Hosea's children (maybe a nephew), I made a memorial for him in case someone might be searching for him.
Good luck in your search,
Shirley

William M. Reed
I do not know him or any Reeds in the area. I have been transcribing and photographing a small cemetery about a mile from me, but am not related to anyone in it. Sorry, I couldn't be of more help.
