|Kenneth D. Tyler||Benjamin Stevens Merithew|
We both have memorials for him. Could you either transfer yours to me or delete it? I have quite a bit of information which, if you decide to keep your, you can add to your memorial.
Benjamin was a ship captain who sailed from Searsport according to Searsport Sea Captains (1960), pg. 127. According to that source, he sailed aboard the brig Demerara, the brig Grand Turk (1849), the bark Talavera (1855, 1864), and the ship Premier I (1865-1874). Also according to that source, "Benjamin retired from the sea in 1874 and shortly thereafter had a stroke. The resulting paralysis made him an invalid for the remainder of his life. Mrs. Merithew was untiring in her care of him and no doubt prolonged his life."
Benjamin died in November, 1891 at 69 years, 3 months, and 22 days of age. Records of the Penobscot Marine Museum in Searsport verify that Benjamin died in 1891 and is buried in the Elmwood Cemetery in Searsport.

|Kay Baldwin||RE: Reuben Elam|
Saw where you had inquired of John Williams about Reuben Elam and his wife, as I also have done. What is your connection? Perhaps we can share some family information. I am a contributor to Find A Grave and also have a private tree on ancestry.com.
|John Williams||RE: Reuben Elam|
Rueben is my paternal 4th great grandfather. I have no additional information available at this time to assists you. My paternal grandmother was an Elam, but this has been a hard line to follow. I have information on many other Elam's in my family however.

Hi Donna ..
The listing was made from an online transcription so I'm afraid I can't help with pictures but you might want to contact the cemetery office as the graves may be unmarked.
