Bio and Links
Bio Photo I love old cemeteries and enjoy researching my ancestorial heritage - each stone has a story. Currently I am researching the "Youngblood's" from St. Clair County Alabama (Ragland) - so if anyone has any information I would greatly appreciate it.

Other surnames are Holliman, Baker, Blakney, Walker, Currier, Collier, Nichols, Fox.

Carol Montgomery Brady
John Anders South Military
Glenda,

I found this record for his Civil War Service:

"Alabama Civil War Muster Rolls, 1861-1865 about John A South
Name: John A South
Estimated Birth Year: abt 1831
Military unit: 41st Alabama Infantry Regiment
Military Unit - Company: H
Muster Roll Date: 30 May 1862
Age: 31
Place of Enlistment - State: Alabama
Roll #: 449
Archive Collection #: SG025051-10"

It isn't much, but it confirms what is printed on his marker. Also, when I notice this birth year, I was able to find lots of information on him by doing a search on ancestry.com. That's good news.

Hope this helps.
Carol

John or John Anders?
Glenda,

Would you please check the family details for John Anders South.

John South with the family details/connections listed on this memorial page is buried in South Cemetery along with other of his family members including my gr-grandmother.

Also, this grave marker indicates that he was in the CSA Infantry, but John South of Blount Co, AL was in Captain Truit's Company, Colonel Forrest's Regiment(cavalry).

I searched ancestry.com for "John Anders South" giving the dates on this memorial page but didn't find anything about him. However, I wondering that the family details listed here were meant for John South, South Cemetery, Blount Co.

Pam Baker
Church picture
Hi Glenda, My name is Pam Baker. I live in Fayette, Alabama and I'm a member at Shepherd Baptist Church. I saw the picture you took of my church and I was wondering if you would mind if I put another picture on here of the church? I have several pictures that I had taken to put on our church website and they don't have any vehicles in front of the church. I have pictures of the cemetery as well and was hoping you would mind if I replaced the one you put on. You can let me know what you want to or don't want to do. I just knew I couldn't replace the pictures by myself and wouldn't have done that anyway without talking to you first. I just wanted to offer some better pictures that I had.

Thanks,
Pam Baker

Mount New Hope Cemetery
Could you give us directions to the Cemetery as we have relatives buried there. We tried to find it by the map on this site and could not find it. Is it off the road. Heard it is private property and do we need to contact (who ever owns it ) to go on to it and How do we get in touch with them. Can you help us. Thanks so much Lyn
