Dear Ancestor
Your tombstone stands among the rest;
Neglected and alone
The name and date are chiseled out
On polished, marbled stone.
It reaches out to all who care
It is too late to mourn.
You did not know that I exist
You died and I was born.
Yet each of us are cells of you
In flesh, in blood, in bone.
Our blood contracts and beats a pulse
Entirely not our own.
Dear Ancestor, the place you filled
So many years ago
Spreads out among the ones you left
Who would have loved you so.
I wonder if you lived and loved,
I wonder if you knew
That someday I would find this spot,
And come to visit you.

I've spent the last 30 years researching and searching for my family and have received a lot of help from people in areas that I could not visit myself. I still love wandering through cemeteries and that wonderful feeling you get when you find one of the "lost" ones whether one of yours or mine. Have a great day and happy searching. :)

RE: Rosa Laaksonen
oh my goodness!! We haven't been to Brimson yet, but we need to. Glenn talks and writes of it with love so much. According to Glenn, my hubby's mom used to go spend time there with her cousins and Irja/ Johan. I sent you Glenn's e-mail if you don't have it

RE: Rosa Laaksonen
Brenda thank you so very much for the marriage date of Aina and Mauno!!! As you could see, I was trying to piece together when they met in Virginia, married and moved to Willow Valley. You made my month!!! I don't have a subscription to any family history service. I so appreciate your help.

Mauno & Aina Lumme are my hubby's grandparents. Rosa is his grand-aunt and Johan grand-uncle. You must know Glenn Beckmann who gave us all a copy of Irja's book. I am so thankful that Irja took the time to document her life!! Beautiful!

Again thank you very much for your help. I so appreciate!!

21st Missouri web site

According to the web site for the 21st Missouri volunteer regiment, you are the contact person. However, the email address listed is no longer valid. I have some information on one of my family members that was in the 21st Missouri that I would like to get added to the site.

Do you still update the site?
If yes, how can I get you the information?

Kirk Walker

I am also a find a grave member.

Brugger/Yackel Winona
Hello - I took the picture of Bertha Brugger's headstone this week. She is buried next to two Yackels, but as far as I can tell they are only listed as "FATHER" and "MOTHER". I think they are Henry and Adelina, FATHER's dates are 1857-1929. MOTHER's dates are 1859-1912. Since Henry's death date is listed as 1929 and Adelina is 1861-1912, I'm thinking this is correct. If you think this sounds right, let me know and I'll fulfill the request with those pictures.
