 | Oscar & Mary Ann Sams/Elmwood cemetary
I made it by the Elmwood cemetary today and got photos of Oscar and Mary Ann Sam's headstones. I made a memorial for Mary Ann. When I contacted the Elmwood cemetary for their burial locations, they sent me some info on Mary Ann, which I put in her bio on her memorial. About 40-50 feet away from them was another family of Sams. I took photos of their headstones too, but none of them had any dates on them just their names (William Sams, Jane Eliza Sams, Will M Sams, Ella Sams, Kate J Sams, and Mary D Sams). | Wellington & Elmwood cemetary
I am hoping to get out to the Wellington cemetary this weekend if its gonna be nice out. I got the location of Oscar Sams grave (block 2 lot 34) in the Elmwood cemetary. Your very welcome for the photos. Im glad to help out. I feel bad about your great grandmother's stone being down. I know the Boy Scouts on occasion do clean up in that cemetary. Maybe they will get around to setting up hers and the other fallen stones. I have a photo of a very worn headstone, I cant make out much but looks to say son of ??? Gates. died Oct 2? 187?. I have found six tombstones for seven Gates family members. I will mail them to you and also put them on find a grave. The Johnson County, Kansas Cemetery book only has two other Gates listed in the county. The book only goes up to the early 1970's I believe. All the Gates that I found in St Joseph Cemetery may be related.

Cornelius and Angeline Gates are listed in the Johnson County Cemetery Book in St. Joseph Cemetery. There is also a Martin Gates buried next to them. Probably a son. I will go to the cemetery tomorrow and see if I can find a tombstone for them. Those three are the only Gates in St. Joseph Cemetery. There are other Gates buried in Johnson County, Kansas though.

| Gates & Nidey/Martin Carr cemetary
Hello Carolyn. I would be happy to make a trip to Martin Carr cemetary and look for Angeline & Emerie's headstones. The Martin Carr cemetary is in a wooded area on private property and was overgrown and neglected the last time I was there. There werent many stones still standing. Hello,
I am sorry for the delay in replying to your question. We went to Marshfield a year ago under unusual circumstances and took some cemetery pictures while there. Unfortunately we don't know anybody else there who could take a photo at Gate of Heaven. I will, however, remember your request, and communicate with you if we if we make another trip in that direction. It would not be possible until next spring or summer.

I believe this is the stone that you are referring to is Nancy Comer.
I think you are incorrect in stating that the nancy next to mabry is not Nancy Gregory as your dates do not jive. Let me know your thoughts. | | | Kristi Donaldson
