|Nickie H.||RE: Frances Romain|
Busy is good. I've been busy too. Time flies, I wish I had more time for this. The image for their marriage info is on the West Virginia Culture website.
Apparently, Jane was the widow of Harvey Summers when she married Toussaint. And after him, she married another Summers. I'd be very interested in anything else you find too.
|Nickie H.||Frances Romain|
I've been following a trail of census' and books and family letters & public records, starting with the 1860 census with John Murray Springer, Mary Virginia and Robert B and Jane Ellen Summers in Missouri. This is what I believe to be true.
Jane E. Summers married Toussaint Schoumann in 1823. Her marriage record to Toussaint listed her as a widow of Harvey Summers. Toussaint and Jane E. had Jane Harvey Schouman in abt 1828 and Frances Romain in abt 1831 (acc to 1850 census). Jane E was the daughter of Thomas Summers and Rachel Hooper. Then she married Robert B Summers, son of Francis F Summers and Sarah Farr, and they had Sophronia Ann and Mary Virginia Summers. Sophronia married William Cox Hereford, and then Joseph D. Moore (I believe) Mary Virginia married my great-grandfather, John Murray Springer. The story of Mary and her babies deaths from cholera or something was so tragic, it must be in someone's family history. I hope someone knows a little more. And please let me know if any of these facts are incorrect.
Thanks so much,
|Nickie H.||Frances Romain's family|
My name is Nickie. Frances Romain was the half sister of my great grandfather's first wife, Mary Virgina Summers. Mary and her two small children died within days of each other in the summer of 1863 of some kind of illness. I'm looking for information about where they are buried. My great grandfather, John Murray Springer, wrote to his parents about the funeral but I can't find any record about location, except they were in Winfield, Putnam County, West Virginia. I would be eternally grateful if you or anyone else has information. You can leave a public message or write to me at email@example.com
|Kevin Price||RE: Re: Eliza Ballou|
Your welcome Michael.
I am new to FindAGrave. I took about 10 photos of that area (yes I can send them, but I need an email address).
I couldnt read Elizabeths inscription at first so I talked with Canton Township (Craig King firstname.lastname@example.org). They documented and photographed each marker/headstone in Downers Cemetery in 2003. Craig was happy to help; you might want to contact him for other Ballou's there. I would guess, there are about 4 to 6 Ballou's in that area.
I posted that first photo as a general view. The other two (showing closeups of both inscriptions) are too big to post to FindAGrave. Again, I'd be happy to send them to you. Please contact me through my email on my profile page.
Best of luck
|Kevin Price||Re: Eliza Ballou|
Hello, I saw that you requested a photo of Eliza Ballou (Downer Cemetery, Canton MI). I went there today and looked. I'm sorry to say the cemetery is old and not well cared for. I did not exactly find Eliza's headstone.
I did find other Ballou's there; let me know if you want those photos. I've also called the township to try and get better information, to locate Eliza.
Please let me know if you are still in need of a photo of her headstone

Ah, I was guessing. I that makes sense since it was on top of the stone instead of on one side. Glad I could help - Candace

|Dave Parker||Drakes Chapel Cemetery address|
Hi, from other sources I've found on the internet, Drakes Chapel Cemetery is located in Deer Creek Township, Henry Co., Missouri. However, I see that the cemetery is listed here as Calhoun, Henry Co., MO. I have relatives I would like to add, but need to be sure I have the correct Drakes Chapel Cemetery before creating their memorials. Are there two Drakes Chapel Cemeteries in Henry Co.? Is the cemetery in Calhoun or Deer Creek Township?
|Sheila Castillo||I got information for you|
Hey I am so sorry it took me so long to respond with your information, but I found five Lunsford that are buried at Shady Point. However I am sorry to say that there is only one Shepherd. I did find out that Henry C's father was D.W. Shepherd. D.W. Shepherd married a Loney D. Kinsey that passed away in 1983. He then moved to McAlester and remarried a Liza Herndon on July 1897 in LeFlore county Oklahoma. Also in the funeral records it states that Henry C died in a mine explosion that killed 13 other people. And did you know that D.W. Shepherd was a doctor!!
