Hi. I've been doing genealogy for about 15 years now. I have almost 5000 direct ancestors in my RootsMagic program.

Currently, my cousin and I run the Yahoo Group MaineGenealogy list which offers some databases and files, as well as the list of over 500 members! It's a great group of people. Many of those that live on Maine in the list volunteer their time and energy for the others. Everyone is very helpful sharing their knowledge. It consists of newbies to professional genealogists. If you are interested, go to: We'd love to have you!

Peleg Tallman
I have been researching the people of Swan Island (Sagadahoc County) quite a bit, and there are some errors in the MOCA transcriptions for that cemetery. One is, Peleg Tallman, son of Jonathan and Zuriah, and it says he died in 1882 at age 17. This Peleg was born 2/18/1816 at Swan Island (see Dresden Vital Records), and I found an article on Gnenealogy Bank's historical newspapers, for the Portland Advertiser, Dec. 24, 1832: Mortuary Notice, Peleg Tallman, aged 17, [ died that month, Dec, 1832]. His parents were both born in 1789.
I'll look for the stone next summer. Getting to that cemetery requires car trip, boat ride, truck ride, and a hike!
