I have family buried in Blackwater cemetery and as no one had transcribed it..I decided to try. I am sure there are mistakes, if you find one, let me know and I will fix it. |
The cemetery is a nice one with a great rock fence on one side. There are many stones with no markings. Many stones that are broken and many that have fell over or leaning badly. There are stones laying on the the stone wall. The cemetery needs a lot of care.
I tried to read the stones but there are some that I can not read.
My family surnames includes Sorency,Morelock, Briggs, Spor, Spangler, Giron, Iserbogel, Hyslip, Broyles, Dalton, Kelsey, Light, Whitson and Long they hail mostly from Laclede and Johnson Counties in Missouri and came thru Tenn and Ky to Missouri.
My husband's family names are Roark, Garrison, Enloe, Essex, Grey, Campbell, Tapp, Kindle, Howard, Close, Stevens, Mitchell and Childers or Childress. They hailed mostly from Cole and Camden Counties in Missouri
I am in the process of adding family photos to our grave sites. Please do not use my photos on other web sites. For your personal files is ok. Thank you.
Feel free to contact me concerning any of these names.

|Martha T||Desta Jeneta Roark and James W. Ross|
Hello from LR Arkansas. Am working on my husband's side of the family. His grandmother was Blanche Blendina Ross. Her mother Desta Jeneta Roark Ross, married to James W. Ross. Desta died when Blanche was about 10. Her father, James, remarried and he had children with his second wife, who apparently was very unkind to Blanche and her siblings. I think all-told James had 10 or 11 children.
I'm trying to locate information on the Ross side but come up with a dead end. You've done a great job with the Roark family line so I am assuming you know that area of MO and may know of some sources of information I might look to for information about James Ross, Desta, and the children they had together.
Thanks in advance for any help you may be able to provide.

Blackwater Cemetery is on our list for 'Maintenance'.
However, cemeteries on the 'Endangered' list have a priority. There are several that are about to be considered abandoned, and we will be concentrating on these first.
There is a chance that Blackwater will get some attention late summer of 2014, depending upon personel and funding.
Perhaps you could enlighted us with your concerns regarding this cemetery and we could upgrade it's status. We have not yet had the opportunity to visit Blackwater.
Thank you for your concern.

I'm searching for my family tree. I understand that Ola and Mae Boyer were sisters. Both married Charles Sumner Reneau. Ola gave birth to a Charles Elbert Reneau Sr. (my grandfather). I dont have dates of birth, married, and death. Do you have this? Thank you

I check for duplicates before adding memorials, but apparently made a mistake here. Sorry - I have deleted my memorial.

I'm glad you fixed the photos so they will show up above the headstone photos. I think the personal photos are much more important!
