Hi Everyone

Sometimes a cemetery piques my interest and if it's small enough and I have enough time I will try to take headstone photos of all the headstones there or as many as I am able to.

Sept 8, 2013 -- St Gertrude's Cemetery, Lebanon, PA. This is my very special project. As of this date every name on every headstone has a memorial posted along with photos of all the headstones. There are also memorials posted for people buried here who have no headstone.

May 27, 2014 -- Sacred Heart Cemetery, Corbeil, Ontario, Canada; headstone photos taken in the section to the right of the entry gate; the headstones in the section to the left of the entry gate taken in 2009

RE: John Martalus
That's a tough one to answer. Technically they both are cenotaph's I guess since his body was not recovered.

RE: Barbara Smith
I do appreciate your offer of assistance. As I've said, I'm pretty much a novice at this, and I'm not sure Eric Willson is any more skilled than I am. I am traveling in northern Michigan for a few days, so I don't have access to all my stuff. I'm on an iPad at the moment-the rest is on my desktop at home. I don't have a laptop 😕. And yes, why did they pick Smith as a surname? Running into the brick wall it constantly presents is beginning to hurt my head!! Watch your email!!

RE: Barbara Smith
Hi Pat,
This has been quite a few days! I have even spoken with Eric! We swapped info, and he is also intrigued with the Smith mystery. After we talked, he apparently spent some time searching, himself. I took the couple of possibilities he shared with me to my friend's yesterday. She is also researching her ancestry. We looked at the info for Michael Smith and a W. J. Smith, who is the individual that gave the info for the death certificate. Maybe they were brothers? If you are interested in seeing the stuff I have for yourself, I can share it via your email if you like. Otherwise, I'll keep plugging away, bit by bit.

Yeah, very exciting, indeed. If you have ideas for me in my search for info about Michael Smith, just steer me in the direction and I'll continue my hunt.
Thanks-

RE: Barbara Smith
Another bit of info re Helen: she was a nun-little sisters of the poor was the order. She was in France for some time, and I remember as a very young child going somewhere to get her, a very mysterious type event as I recall-I had to have been younger than five- and we took her with us and she was wearing regular street clothes. After that, she was never in a 'habit', so I believe that was her departure from the order. She always worked in hospitals or nursing homes. She married a Charles Dennison, quite a bit older than her, and had one daughter, Mary Margaret, born probably 1960-1962 ish. Charles died and she married a Julius Csicsak, also spelled csiczak, had twin daughters named France's and Julie, and then another daughter named Lisa. I have lost contact with those cousins years ago.

RE: Barbara Smith
This is crazy! I looked at name of individual who gave info for John Alkes death certificate-a Deborah Willson, living in Flint, I'm in 1992. So, I googled her name and a phone # came up. I called it--AND IT STILL WORKED! We spoke for quite a bit. Eric is her son, and she is going to give him my contact info. She says he has begun to do research also, and we agreed to speak again. She says they have no info about her grandmother, which would be Barbara, other than ethnicity. She says she does not know how to use a computer-I told her she had to get on that so we can communicate! She says her kids have been urging her and now she's going to have to. I find this all very intriguing and exciting! Re: Helen Vera Smith Csicsak. DOB= 02/11/1924. DOD=02/27/2007. Last summer I went to a family search center at a Mormon church and worked with a gentleman there to see what we could find out about my grandfather, Michael Smith. We found that there is a marriage certificate, but it was never filed at the courthouse after the ceremony. Obviously, we didn't think Michael Smith was his real name, coming from Persia. Any ideas on how to research that? Interestingly, the person who gave info for michaels death certificate, is listed as a J.W. Smith. I'll be waiting to hear from you-

RE: Barbara Smith
Pat,
I received both documents and they sure have me baffled. I'm not aware that my grandma ever lived in Flint, and if she did, what did she do with her other three children? Im afraid my resources are very limited... Just one cousin living who is 88, but I'll give her a try. I will look for info on my Aunt Helen--don't know if I have any dates. She was, I believe, two years older than my dad, David. David Michael Smith, son of Barbara Eva Smith and Michael Smith, was my father. I'm very new at this genealogy stuff, so any hints you have for me would certainly be appreciated. Glad to meet you! I am in Michigan. Where are you located?

RE: Barbara Smith
Sure, I'd love to see the documents. This info about third hubby must have been added since I first started my interest in my dad's family tree. It was not there when I originally saw her info several years ago. I have worked a bit with Cathy Horn who originally posted pic of Barbara. Cathy is actually a cousin I did not know I had-how cool is that! If you have ANY other contacts for me, that you think may have info, feel free to share my email with them. I'm so glad to hear from you..

Okay...I've spent the better part of the afternoon researching the possibility of a fourth child....Helen Vera Smith has been omitted. For as many connections I make associating Barbara with John Alkas, I find info that conflicts. Please share how you verified your info.
Thanks-
