After my father passed away in 2006, I became more interested in researching my family history, since my mother is also deceased - there aren't too many people that really know the family history. While I've been able to find a wealth of information on my mother's side, I haven't been as lucky on my father's side.|
Through this website, I have been able to find out where many family members are buried. Someone who was passing through the area was kind enough to take numerous pictures of the small rural family cemetery, even though she had no connection to them. Although I can't help her, I want to help others by taking pictures of their loved ones' graves.
If I've gotten any details wrong, please don't hesitate to let me know (by using the "edit" button on the memorial) so I can change them! :)
*** I started my dream job - working at a cemetery - in September 2014! I hope to be able to fulfill many photo requests as well as add memorials.

I checked the SSDI using the March 22, 1881 date of birth and found nothing that matched her first name.
Now, I did find two individuals with the first name of Rufina with a March 22 date of birth. However, one was born in 1903 and the other in 1909. That is a big stretch from 1881.
No luck tracking her down.

No luck finding a Neeley or Faulkner in a Fairlawn, Fair Lawn, Fairmount or Fair Mount cemetery in New York State.

I have transcribed the article from the El Paso newspaper. I suspect there would be correspondence in the archives of the USMA about the interment of the second Mrs. Borup. It would have been regarded as a sensitive issue, but there would have to be written authorization for her re-interment in the post cemetery.
The article says she was interred in Fairmount, but the information you have says Fairlawn.
I have looked and I cannot find a cemetery that appears to be a match, but I will look again this time for the Faulkner and Neeley surnames.

I found an article about this in the free database Chronicling America:
If you cannot access the article let me know.
This is from the New York, New York Death Index - the first name is a transcription error, but the date matches:
Name: Aioia F Faulkner
Birth Year: abt 1894
Death Date: 9 Jan 1915
Death Place: Manhattan, New York, USA
Certificate Number: 1184
The news article states she was interred in Fairmount Cemetery, but I could not find a cemetery near New York City with that name.
I think this is the only Anna Borup interred in the post cemetery. It is an unusual name and it would be strange for there to be two interments with the same name so close together.
However, the dates on the stone are incorrect.
I was unable to find additional articles about Florence and Major Borup. Obviously, he persuaded her family that they were indeed married. And he persuaded the administration at West Point of the same so that she was interred in the Post Cemetery later that year.

Thanks, Shamrocks, for the photo of her stone and the plot/site information.
Is her mother on the opposite side of the stone? Too bad the name of her mother is incorrect - listed as Jean instead of Beatrice.
Jean's uncle and Beatrice's brother is also interred in the post cemetery. He was a member of the USMA Class of 1928.
