Sumpter Perdue
Hi - Got your message but could not get your email; please call again with email address and I'll send you info I have on Sumpter. I've communicated with another family member since my last post and found that he and Annis actually had 15 children. I had several names with no dates so what I do have does equal 15. Thanks!

RE: Sumpter Perdue
I have names of 14 of the children from Annis and Sumpter...probably missing one of the twins. I'll go through Aunt Sudie's letters again and see if I missed something. No finding of marriage date for Annis and Sumpter, just assumed 1888 since first child was born Nov. 1889. If you'll send me your email or fax number, I'll send you info on the Perdue's. Sumpter's grandfather Perdue has not been found. He's probably living with some other family and his name is not shown. My husband would really like it if I could find him and trace where they came from! I do remember Aunt Sudie saying Sumpter had two sons before he married Annis. I know one was Lee Lonnie, mother Neely Wooten. Aunt Sudie said she recalled the name Daniel, but she never met him. I've never found him either.

I do have some old photos and may have one of Sumpter; they are snapshots so quality will not be good. I'm in the midst of going through all my research so when I find them again, I'll post them.

RE: Sumpter Perdue
I have information on all (I think) of Sumpter's and Annis' children (possibly 14 or 15 since several died as infants). I got the information from Aunt Sudie in 1978; she had the family bible. Sumpter's age was 3 on the 1860 Sevier County, Arkansas census showing he had been born in Louisiana. His sister, Sarah, was 1 and was shown as being born in Arkansas. Theadore, Sumpter's father married Rebecca J. Younce/Younse (both born in Alabama)in Louisiana 5 Oct 1855. Some of her family also moved to Arkansas and are shown in the 1860 census. Since Sumpter is shown as 3 on the census and it was taken in July 1860, his mother could have given his current or soon to be age 4 in September....he must have been born either in 1856 or possibly 1857.

I have Dovie's birthdate as 3 Feb 1904, born Dalby Springs, Bowie, TX and died 14 May 1955 in Dallas. I have an ancestry chart (a constant work in progress on My tree name is Massey/Perdue. Please feel free to check it out. I'll be happy to give you all the info I have found to date.

My husband's grandfather was John Lewis Perdue. I'll be happy to help with any further information you might need. Thanks!
