you're quite welcome. sorry about the hand in the pic but my husband had to hold aside the vines in order to take the shot. Morris's Hebrew inscription includes the name of his father which went as follows: Moshe bar Dov Ber. hope this helps your family research.

RE: Harry Smolarsky
Hi Judy,
I would like to take credit for responding to your request, but the truth is much stranger than that.
While I was in NY last month, I took a large number of cemetery photos, which I am now loading onto findagrave.com. In the course of cropping and resizing photos, I realized that my camera is high enough resolution that I could crop gravestones in the background and they had sufficient resolution to be readable.Harry's was one of those.

In Harry's case, the all-Hebrew inscription raised a challenge, since I can read Hebrew letters, but without vowels, it took a bit of trial & error to find a name that matched an existing findagrave entry for that cemetery, (or or census record). Then I deciphered the Hebrew date and used an online Hebrew to Gregorian calendar tool to verify that it matched the date in the findagrave memorial.

I had fun doing it, and I'm glad it was useful to you.

All the best.
